Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities This position reports to the AA/EO Director. This classification has no supervisory responsibilities. Typical Functions 1. Conducts intake of issues and complaints and assists in the investigation and resolution. 2. Receives initial intake from individuals, makes determination as to whether the issue is AA/EO related. 3. Provides instruction pertaining to the USU complaint procedure. 4. Assists in the conduct of investigations to include interviewing relevant parties and reviewing documentation in an objective, accurate, and timely fashion. 5. Prepares forms and final reports pursuant to informal and formal complaint resolution. 6. Develops and presents sexual harassment prevention, diversity, and other AA/EO related training to faculty, staff and students. 7. Monitors the hiring process. Provides AA/EO briefing to faculty and exempt employee search committees, as required. 8. Works with HR and other appropriate entities to review and assist in the development and enhancement of efficient and effective hiring procedures. 1

Summary

Incumbents in the AA/EO position investigate allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, including alleged violations of University policies in accordance with Titles VI, VII, and IX as well as other federal and state laws and regulations.

4. Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret policies and procedures.5. Knowledge of University, state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to sexual

harassment/misconduct and discrimination.6. Ability to deal with emotional and sensitive issues.7. Ability to speak and write about sensitive subjects to faculty, students, staff, advisors, and

others.8. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.9. Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience related to AA/EO is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
