HRM STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Name: Ted Bradley Spring (I geaux by Brad)
Hometown: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Educa on: Master of Public Administra on from LSU
What do you do in your department, including job tle and area?
I work in the office of Human Resource Management as the Academic Policy Consultant. My role encapsulates the overseeing and processing of: Emeritus requests, honorific tles, IPA review, Promo on & Tenure requests, Sabba cal leave, Stop the Tenure Clock requests, training and New Employee Orienta on, ensuring policy compliance and efficiency in all.
How long have you been with LSU?
I have been at LSU since 2006, finishing my undergrad in 2009 and my Master’s in 2012. I was hired in HRM in 2012.
What has been your most sa sfying or rewarding experience as an HR professional?
Helping departments in their endeavors for their faculty is the most rewarding. If I can help somebody, and if I can find a policy compliant way to expedite, I will. Further, I love leading New Employee Orienta on, especially the campus tour that I con nually strive to make more current and relevant to what is going on at LSU. Big things happen here!
What’s the strangest thing you’ve run across in your HR career?
Working in HR, nothing seems strange. To my surprise, I feel as if our office has the best working environment on campus! I love where I work and the people I work with, we really are a team!
What do you like most about working at LSU? I absolutely love working at LSU, especially during football season. There is a magic in the air that is unexplainable. But, I would say, the people that I work with make the job rewarding.
Tell us something interes ng about yourself. I am a history buff and love languages. I speak German fairly well and love to have a word of the day, it doesn’t ma er what language it’s in!

Quick and Healthy Lunch In need of a lunch that is easy to make and healthy? Try this neat idea...Salad in a Jar!
Start by using a wide mouth quart size jar (available at most grocery stores for a li le less than $15 for a dozen jars) and add your dressing first. You do this step first so your le uce doesn’t get slimy. Next, add a “hearty” vegetable like pea pods, carrots or shredded cabbage, because they can withstand the acidity of the dressing. Add some other fresh veggies like sliced bell peppers, tomatoes or any of your other favorites. Really pack it in! Then top if off with a handful or so of leafy greens! You can even add a li le quinoa in between your veggies and your le uce. It’s high in fiber and a complete protein to help fill you up. Make a few more for the week since they stay fresh for four to six days. Dump the jar into a bowl or shake and enjoy!
