Howard County Middle School G/T Band Howard County Middle School Honors Band Jeffry Brodie and Richard Roberts, Coordinators Lori Schwartz Reichl and Richard Roberts, Co-Directors Dear Parents/Guardians of Student Musicians: The Howard County Middle School Gifted and Talented Band and the Howard County Middle School Honors Band are countywide musical opportunities for middle school band students who excel in their school band programs. Your child has been selected to audition for one of these enrichment groups based on his/her demonstration of excellent music skills and cooperation in his/her home school band program. Please read and initial the following details: ______I understand that we are registering to audition for the Howard County Middle School Gifted and Talented

Band and the Howard County Middle School Honors Band and as such that I am making a primary commitment to attend all rehearsals and the concert for their full duration.

______I understand that parents will be responsible for transportation to and from all rehearsals and that students must be at rehearsals on time and picked up on time.

______Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory! Please compare the band schedules listed on page two with your calendar to check for conflicts before registering.

______It is the parents’/guardians’ responsibility to transport their child to and from rehearsals and the performance. ______Students selected for either group are expected to participate and to come prepared for each rehearsal. ______Students selected for either group will be assessed a $65 fee to cover costs of the music and conductors’ fees. ______All GT/Honors Band candidates must audition. There will be one audition date and site. Audition

requirements are the same for both ensembles. ______Audition Requirements: Audition performance requirements are the same as for All-State Band. Your

school band director has copies of the All-State requirements. Audition requirements may also be found at: www.mmea-maryland.org

Audition Date: Tuesday, September 30, 2014 Audition Site: Ellicott Mills MS, 4445 Montgomery Rd, Ellicott City, MD 21043 Audition Times: 4:30 – 8:30 pm

* Note: All flute and clarinet players must be available to audition in the finals room. Based on judges’ scores, the student may be asked to proceed to the finals room. This could take up to an additional 45 minutes.

Notification: Band directors will receive students’ audition times on or before Monday, September 22. Request: Parents are requested to wait in the hallway during the audition.

REGISTRATION: To register your child for an audition time, please complete the Registration Form and return it to your school band director by Friday, September 5th. The director will make a copy of the form and return it to you. This is a confirmation that the form was received. Students must bring this copy of the registration form to the audition.
