How to set up NX to connect to Ranger

The following instructions are for Windows operating systems. The configuration settings and download

links will be the same for Mac OS X .

1. Download the NX client for your operating system from the Computer Science Department's website.

2. Install the NX client. At the first prompt click on Next

Click next

Click Next

At this point you may choose to create a desktop icon for NX. Check Create a desktop icon and click next

if you want a desktop icon, otherwise click next.

Click Install and wait for the installation to finish.

When the installation is completed click Finish

3. Start the NX Client For Windows program

4. On first run, the NX Connection window will open - click Next

5. Enter ranger.cs.mtsu.edu into the session and the host text boxes and click next:

6. Leave the default settings on the next screen and click next:

7. At this point you can choose to create a shortcut on your desktop. Click Finish to complete the setup.

8. At this point your session should be configured and you should be able to run NX Client for windows

to connect to ranger. Start the NX Client for windows

9. Type in your login and password and choose ranger.cs.mtsu.edu as your session. Click Login to

connect to ranger.

10. If you need to change the session information you can click configure to make changes. The settings

should be the same as this screen:
