Yarn Count:
Count is a numerical expression which define coarseness or fineness of yarn. Count is very important factor for the yarn manufacturing. Maintaining the yarn count is mandatory to retain the quality of a yarn and fabrics.
Fabric GSM: GSM is abbreviated with Gram per Square Meter that is the weight of fabric in gram per one square meter. It is one kind of important specification of fabric. Which is very essential for a textile engineer for understanding and production of fabric.
Finding Yarn Count from GSM: From the research work it is try to find the following equations for the selection of yarn count to get required GSM equations vary for fabric types, fabric construction. List of equations are tabulated below:
Name of fabrics
Equations
Single-jersey
Ne = -0.141GSM + 50.22
Pique
Ne = -0.146GSM + 57.1
Double lacoste
Ne = -0.167GSM + 64.36
1x1 Rib
Ne = -0.123GSM + 54.57
Lycra 1x1 Rib
Ne = -0.119GSM + 59.12
Lycra 2x2 Rib
Ne = -0.108GSM + 56.62
Interlock
Ne = -0.206GSM + 80.56
Name of fabrics
Equations
Single - jersey
GSM = 350.4 - 6.879 Ne
Lycra single-jersey
GSM = 354.56 - 4.9716 Ne
Pique
GSM = 386.44 - 6.6737 Ne
1x1 Rib
GSM = 437.66 - 7.9731 Ne
Lycra 1x1 Rib
GSM = 494.08 - 8.2839 Ne
Lycra 2x2 Rib
GSM = 519.05 - 9.1216 Ne
Interlock
GSM = 388.41 - 4.778 Ne
