How it worksThe Name-A-Puppy program is a flexible program that can be tailored to any school, individual or business. The length of the program can also be customized from as short as one day to as long as several months. One hundred percent of the money raised through the Name-A-Puppy program will be applied directly to the costs associated with the training of a puppy – like food, equipment, medical care, and of course, TREATS!!

Individuals• Raise or donate a minimum of $2,500 toward the program.

• Contact our office to register and receive your “Name-A-Puppy” fundraising packet.

• Make your personal contribution take on a whole new face, complete with wet nose and pink tongue!

• Name a puppy as a holiday or personal gift for your family or a special friend.

• Use this opportunity to involve your family in “giving back” to the community.

Businesses• Raise or donate a minimum of $2,500 toward the program.

• Contact our office to register and receive your “Name-A-Puppy” fundraising packet.

• Create a “sense of team” by involving your employees in the fundraising process. We can help with ideas to make it fun!

• Pay for a sponsorship in honor of your employees. Display the photograph and certificate in a prominent place and your employees can take pride in this gift all year long.

Schools• Raise or donate a minimum of $1,500 toward the program.

• You can create friendly competitions among classes, grades, or neighboring schools.

• School administrators or teachers should contact our office to register and receive your “Name-A-Puppy” fundraising packet. We will help you get started on your project with ideas and materials.

What do you get?• You get to Name a Puppy!

• A photograph of the puppy.

• Information about Can Do Canines.

• A Certificate of Thanks.

• Acknowledgement in our annual report.

• An opportunity to tour our facility or have a demonstration dog visit your school, business or group and show your team his or her skills.

• Pride in giving back to your community – have a great feeling of helping train a special dog to assist a person in need.

• All levels will receive quarterly “puppy progress reports” throughout the training period.

• Your donation is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

What types of dogs are trained by Can Do Canines?Mobility Assist Dogs – assist a person with physical disabilities by picking up and carrying objects, pulling wheelchairs, opening doors, retrieving a cordless phone and other tasks.

Hearing Assist Dogs – alert a deaf or hard-of-hearing person to sounds like a knock on the door, smoke alarm, crying baby, intruder, alarm clock and phone.

Diabetes Assist Dogs – detect low blood sugar levels by sensing a change in their partner’s breath. The dog alerts their partner by touching them in a significant way.

Seizure Response Dogs – respond to a person having a seizure by licking their face, retrieving an emergency phone and alerting other family members.

Autism Assist Dogs – keep children with autism safe in public settings and help them experience the world more fully by offering comfort and assurance.

Cost to train an Assistance Dog The cost per graduated team is more than $28,000. Each client receives the dog, all necessary training, medical care and equipment at no charge.
