DESCRIPTION
Chikmagalur has the distinction of being the birthplace of coffee in India. As legend has it, the first seeds were shown about 350 years ago on the slopes of these hills by the seer Baba Budan, who is believed to have smuggled seven seeds of coffee from Mecca while on a pilgrimage.
