Workshop:

Building Computational Models Using PYTHON

The technological breakthroughs in various domains led to data explosion. In order to effectively use such a data the need

of the hour is to develop necessary infrastructure and ecosystems that are capable of handling the complex characteristics

such as heterogeneous structures, the velocity with which data is generated and assessing the veracity of the data. This

field opened up a new suit of program models and computational architectures. In order to cater to the industry

requirements and to trace the evolution in computation models from research point of view Department of CSE organized

a 5-Day workshop "Building Computational Models Using PYTHON" from 6- 10 June, 2016. This workshop

accommodated industry expert talks and university perspectives. About 50 faculty members attended the workshop. The

A Visit to IIS & M (formerly Survey of India), HyderabadAn educational visit to the Indian Institute of Survey & Mapping (Surveyof India), Uppal, Hyderabad was organized for the B. Tech II Yr Civilengineering students on 11 and 12 February, 2016. The Centre forSurvey Training and Map Production was established in Hyderabad in1967 in collaboration with Human Resource Development Institute,Survey of India under technical assistance from United NationsDevelopment Programme (UNDP). The IIS&M, recently renamed asIndian Institute of Surveying & Mapping (IIS&M) thus raised on 6May, 1967 is now recognized as the prestigious training instituteestablished in the field of Surveying and Cartography to impart trainingto the officers and the staff of Survey of India and other governmentorganisations, private individuals and scholars from the Afro-Asiancountries.

The students got good insights into innovative surveying systems suchas GPS, EDM, Digital levels and Theodolites, Laser Scanners, DigitalSensors, high resolution satellite imageries etc. These systems haverevolutionized the scope of spatial data collection.

The students became aware of advanced information on theories andpractices in disciplines of Geodesy, Geo-physics, Photogrammetry,Land Surveying, Cartography and Reprography. With the introductionof computers and change of emphasis from analogue to digital
