Course selection

At your 8th grade IGP, you are picking ALL 8 classes for the whole 15-16 school year of your 9th grade year.

Choose carefully! You can make changes up to March 30th.

You are not allowed to make preference changes after March 30th.

Remember, if you are in Eng 1 and/or Alg 1 in 8th grade—you must have a final grade of 85 OR an approval appeal from your middle school principal to move on to Honors coursework in 9th grade—due June 12th.

Students pursuing all Honors academic courses in 9th grade should sign up for Accelerated Foreign Language in 9th grade.

GPA…it all starts here!

Your overall Grade Point Average (GPA) begins in 9th grade (or middle school if you take Eng 1, Alg 1 or Foreign Language for high school credit).

EVERY class you take for high school credit counts toward your overall GPA.

This is the number that you will write on college applications during your senior year.

Remember, there are state scholarships (HOPE, LIFE, and Palmetto Fellows) that are tied to strong overall GPA. Having an overall 3.0 at graduation is the minimum for HOPE and LIFE scholarship.
