Home learning
pack 5 To support the home learning we have created a
guideline for how much time should be spent on each
activity in the day.
Each day they have a new story to listen to and
engage with.
15 minutes: Listen to story and discuss
30 minutes: Complete the book activity
20 minutes: Maths activity is usually practical,
document the learning in their book or take photos for
EExAT.
30 minutes: Complete activity of the day together or
allow them to complete independently
This is a guideline, if they spend more/less time on
the activity that is fine!
Thank you for your continued support
Harry and the bucketful of Dinosaurs – Listen on Youtube
Harry finds some dusty plastic dinosaurs in Nan's attic. He cleans them, finds
out their names and takes them everywhere - until, one day, the dinosaurs get
lost! The lost property man gets a surprise when Harry proves the dinosaurs
are his by calling them over to him.
Discuss what you may find in an attic, what other toys might there be?
Writing/Reading:
Listen to the story on YouTube. What happened in the story? Where did Harry find the dinosaurs? Can you remember the different names of the dinosaurs?
Draw a picture of the bucket with all the dinosaurs inside it. Can you remember what colours they were? What were they doing in the story?
Write a list of toys you would like to find in the attic and play with. You can draw pictures to support your list.
Maths:
Find 10 of your favourite toys.
Practise using your touch counting to count them.
Can you find different ways to make 10 with your toys?
Use the part part whole method. Remember this is when the two parts make the total e.g. 4 and 6 make 10.
Use the part part whole diagram on the back, or use any containers, plates or boxes to show the two numbers. Write number sentences for these. Can you do this for numbers bigger than 10?
Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs
Activity of the day: Create your own bucket full of toys
Using a box around your house, decorate this to make your very own special bucket like Harry’s. What will your bucket look like? What will the handle be like? What colours will it be?
Decorate your bucket and upload a picture to EExAT.
What will you put into your bucket? Find your favourite toys to go on an adventure with just like Harry.
Please use the part part whole model below to support your maths home
learning. If the circles are too small then please create your own or use
containers/boxes
