If at least 60 new people sign up for a library card during the month of September, your wish will come true. Under 16—bring your guardian to the library to sign you up. Read localized weather radars and turbulence paerns that are good for flying an aircraſt. Imagine yourself flying a glider or hot air balloon at the age of 14, flying a plane at 16, and carrying passengers at 18! Ages 9-12. Register required. The SPARK @ MPL: Rolled Paper Coasters and Bowls Monday, October 14, 4-5 pm—The art of paper rolling is simple, fun and creave. We will be using magazines and newspapers to thinly roll and build some praccal items that can be used at home or given as giſts. Ages 9-12. Registraon required. The SPARK @ MPL: Slithering Snakes Tuesday, October 22, 4:30-5:30 pm—Do snakes have a skeleton? What do snakes eat? Are snakes slimy? Find out all the answers to your curious quesons and more! Led by a high school student named Emma. She will share her love of reples with you and teach us all about how to handle with care! Live snakes will be present at this event. Ages 9-12. CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS Ages 8 & Under

LEGO Wind Racers Challenge & Free Exploration Thursday, October 24, 1-2 pm—For ages 8 and under. Use a wooden dowel, paper, and LEGOs to create a car that runs on wind power (fan). Race against your friends, and use the extra time to free build. No registration required.

Celebrate Martinmas Monday, November 11, 5:30-6:30 pm—For ages 8 and under. Learn about the holiday of Martinmas from an expert, and create St. Martin’s Day lanterns. We’ll end the program with a lantern procession outside the library (weather permitting). Please call the library to register.

MHS AG Presentation Select Wednesdays, September 11, October 2, November 6, 4-4:30 pm—For ages 8 and under. Students from the MHS Ag Business class will read a story, teach us a little bit about an ag-related topic, and lead us in a hands-on activity. No registration required.

Drive-In Movie Monday, September 30, 6-7:30 pm—For families with children ages 8 and under. Use cardboard boxes, tape, plates, markers and other craft supplies to engineer a “car” that you’ll sit in while we watch a short movie. Snacks, boxes, and craft supplies will be provided. Please call the library to register.

Scooby Doo Party Friday, October 18, 4:30-5:30 pm—For families with children ages 8 and under. Come celebrate our favorite crime-fighting gang with crafts, games, photo ops, Scooby snacks, and more. Please call the library to register.

The SPARK @ MPL: Special Effects Makeup with School Supplies Wednesday, October 9, 5-6—Just in time for Halloween, learn how to make realistic-looking wounds using basic school supplies. For ages 13 to 18. Space is limited and registration is required.

The SPARK @ MPL: Thrifty Re-Do Friday, October 25, 3-5 pm—Let’s take something ordinary and make it extraordinary! Give some life and add new elements to an old thrift-shop painting with a variety of materials, such as paint, fabric, yarn, and more (including googly eyes!). For ages 13 to 18. Space is limited and registration is required.

Mental Health Awareness with NAMI Tuesday, October 29, 6-7:30 pm—A representative from NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) will be here to candidly talk about mental illness, resources that are available, and how you can help others. For ages 13 to 18. Registration required.
