Library Card Sign-up Month Want to see MPL staff members get slimed?? If at least 60 new people sign up for a library card during the month of September, your wish will come true. Under 16—bring your guardian to the library to sign you up. Guardians and 16-and-ups, you just need an ID with a current address, and you can get a library card for you or your child for FREE!! Check the progress on the library slime-o-meter during the month of September. If we reach our goal of 60 new library card sign-ups, staff will be slimed on Thursday, October 3, at 5 pm.

Amateur Photography Contest Hey shutterbugs, participate in our amateur photography contest! Anyone ages 6 and up is welcome to join the fun. Stop at the library for complete rules and entry forms. All submissions are due by September 30. Photographs will be judged by professional photographers and displayed October through November.

The SPARK @ MPL: Pumpkin Chunkin Saturday, October 12, starting at noon—Participate in the 4th annual Pumpkin Chunkin catapult event! Build a catapult and see how far it can throw a pumpkin. Library Lope Monday, September 2 at 8 am—Sign up for the 4th annual Teen Advisory Board Library Lope: Let’s Dash for Books! Milton Public Library Book Sale November 1 – 30—Great selection and great prices! Sale will be open during regular library hours. All proceeds help fund library programs.

November Coat Drive November 1 – 30—Bring your new or gently used coats to donate. All donations go to the Milton Food Pantry and are distributed to members of our community. Hats, mittens, and scarves are welcome as well.

The SPARK @ MPL: ArKIDtecture Monday, September 16, 4-5 pm—We will design a blueprint of dream houses and businesses, and then we’ll put all our structures together to build a big kid city with all their arKIDtectural buildings. Ages 9-12. Registration required.

The SPARK @ MPL: Flight School for Kids

Saturday, October 12, 1-3 pm—Meet real life Flight Instructors and learn about the aerodynamics of a plane and how it stays up in the air. Read localized weather radars and turbulence patterns that are good for flying an aircraft. Imagine yourself flying a glider or hot air balloon at the age of 14, flying a plane at 16, and carrying passengers at 18! Ages 9-12. Register required.

The SPARK @ MPL: Rolled Paper Coasters and Bowls Monday, October 14, 4-5 pm—The art of paper rolling is simple, fun and creative. We will be using magazines and newspapers to thinly roll and build some practical items that can be used at home or given as gifts. Ages 9-12. Registration required.

The SPARK @ MPL: Slithering Snakes

Tuesday, October 22, 4:30-5:30 pm—Do snakes have a skeleton? What do snakes eat? Are snakes slimy? Find out all the answers to your curious questions and more! Led by a high school student named Emma. She will share her love of reptiles with you and teach us all about how to handle with care! Live snakes will be present at this event. Ages 9-12. The SPARK @ MPL: Magnetic Mania Monday, November 11, 4-5 pm—Magnets are used every day and help us in many ways on both a large and small scale. Come learn about the many uses of magnets and have fun experimenting. Ages 9-12. Registration required.
