“Pastor’s Weekend Message”
“My children, I will be with you only a little while
longer. I give you a new commandment: love one another.
as I have loved you.” (Jun 13:34)
Love is the focus of today’s readings. Jesus called us to
love to the fullness. We know that at times it is very diffi-
cult to love all things happening in today’s world, but no
matter what, we must face the call to love with a sacrifi-
cial heart like how the Lord teaches us. Love brings life,
unity, peace and hope. Never to forget that love teaches
us to embrace suffering with confidence. In a way, we are
all in need of love: we ought to love personally and others
as well are called to love us. All in all, this action and
decision creates a mutual respect and self giving for the
sake of love. God’s love is unconditional and yet our
love, although finite, ought to be unconditional, life-
giving and unselfish. To love with joy is the message of
the Gospel of Mercy. Loving the suffering, improvised,
marginalized, threatened, unwanted, rejected, vulnerable
and destitute is true Christian love. Listen today to God’s
example of love. Jesus is the loving answer that we need
in today’s uncharitable climate. We need His Presence to
bring about peace, justice, joy and love. Love then is not
just a “word” it is a “personal action.” Have a blessed
Sunday. Pray with me for all of those who will receive
the sacrament of Confirmation this Sunday.
Peace and blessings in the Lord,
Father Juan Serna S.T.L., Holy Family Pastor
Jn 13:34

ENCOURAGE (NEW SUPPORT GROUP
EnCourage is a Roman Catholic apostolate for parents,
friends and family members of loved ones with same-sex
attractions. It is a faithful witness to Catholic teaching on
sexual morality which meets the needs of its members with charity and compassion. It does not embrace the
necessity of changing a loved one’s sexual attraction to
seek support from our ministry. It helps members to focus
on their own spiritual development with the goals of
achieving peace and complete trust in God’s Providence
and His Love for us and the ones we love. EnCourage offers a supportive, confidential environment to share
feelings, experiences, information and guidance for main-
taining healthy relationships with our loved ones with
same-sex attractions. It provides members with an under-
standing of their needs and assists members to reach out
to their loved ones with true compassion. Be welcomed by a group of committed Catholics who understand your
sufferings and who will walk and pray with you on this
journey. To confidentially inquire about meetings,
please call (209) 425-1679.
