All Are Welcome...

Bernie Weber welcomed everyone into the monastery.

Over 300 people attended the open house making it a resounding success!

John Schork and Richard Johnson visit with guests.

During the weekend of October 19-20, Sacred Heart Community and St. Agnes Parish in Louisville, shared in a Charism Project: celebrating the feast of St. Paul of the Cross, followed by a community “Tailgate/Open House” at the monastery. The parish committee met and worked for months to help develop the project. Over 300 people came to the open house after the weekend Masses at St. Agnes!! The Masses highlighted the life of St. Paul of the Cross, and the leader of the Passionist Connection Committee delivered a five minute presentation at the end of Mass - with the encouragement to come next door to the monastery for the celebration - and they did!

The guests were treated to tours of the house, tailgate food (BBQ pulled pork, chips, queso, apple cider, coffee, fresh fruit, cookies, etc.), and the opportunity to visit with the community members. A variety of Passionist literature was available. People came and stayed a good while, some saying it’s the first time they’ve ever been in the monastery. There’s a new awareness of Passionist life in Louisville, and a good feeling of the ties that have bound us for well over 120 years. The Committee is already buzzing about how to carry this to the next level.

Beginnings...At the invitation of Clemente Barrón, Denis Travers, while he was in Chicago for a few days, celebrated Mass honoring the feast St. Paul of the Cross for employees at the Development Office. It was the first Mass held at the office. Perhaps a new tradition?

The conference room provided the perfect space for

employees who wished to attend.

The remains of the Passionists were reburied at our plot in All Saints.

The cemetery workers took great care in the burial and placement of headstones.

With the sale of the Chicago monastery finalized, the Passionists buried in the monastery cemetery have been relocated to All Saints Cemetery in nearby Des Plaines.

And Endings...
