Cedric will preach the Mass on EWTN August 8 at 7 a.m. Rebroadcasts will air at 11 a.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. All times are Central Time. His television program, Live with Passion! can be viewed Sundays at 8 a.m. ET and Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m. ET, on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN). Cedric will be interviewed and preach on TBN Thursday, October 27 at 10 p.m. ET.

Enno Dango will begin his fifth year in the Ph. D. program at the University of Notre Dame. Enno will study abroad for the Fall 2016 semester at the University annex campus in Jerusalem, Israel, called Tantur Ecumenical Institute. The institute provides resources in its library and its location in the Middle East. Enno is looking forward to exciting and enriching research on his dissertation topic: The Message of the Qur’an, of Muhammad Asad (1900-1992). He was an Austrian Jew who converted to Islam in his mid-20s shortly after his sojourn in this region, and thereafter, through his scholar-ship and his rationalistic translation of the Qur’an into English, became one of the respected firebrand exponents of modern reforms in Islam in the 20th Century.

From Blaise Czaja:

Joe Moons, Giltus Mathias, Sam Divine and I went to the California State Fair. Joe, being the generous provincial, treated us to pizza! Giltus was reminded of the cows in Randham, Tamil Nadu, India. After a great mission appeal in San Francisco over the weekend, a gentleman, so impressed with Giltus’ presentation, ap-proached him with an offer to hire him as a fundraiser. Sam has a couple of weeks left of his novitiate year - then on to Chicago. State Fairs are not what they used to be. They have become too commercialized.

World Youth Day Celebration...

Chris Gibson and Juan Gonzalez participated in the English Vocation Retreat, and the Vengan y Vean Spanish Vocation Retreat held at Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center in Houston, Texas. Over 50 young people and more than 20 priests, brothers, religious and seminarians were present. The weekend was filled with prayer, presentations, small group discussions and information about vocations, in particular the priesthood and religious life. We are in contact with several young men interested in a vocation as a Passionist.

Chris Gibson and Soohoon Hur, who will join St. Vincent Strambi Community in residence at the end of August, participated in the World Youth Day Celebration at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines, Illinois. The celebration began on Saturday, July 30, and continued through the night for 24 hours. Chris and Soohoon displayed information about Passionist vocations and ministries. Chris also helped out with confessions as well as other activities.

On Thursday, July 14, St. Vincent Strambi Community hosted a party for Sebastian MacDonald as he prepared to move to Sacred Heart Monastery in Louisville, Kentucky. Friends gathered for an evening of good food, good company and wonderful tributes to Sebastian. Many thanks to Arthur Carrillo for capturing the evening with his camera. More pictures are available here. Blessings upon you, Sebastian. Chicago won’t be the same!

Top Notch BBQ...

While in Detroit for their golf outing, Tu-Jin Kim treated some of the Passionist Family to a Korean BBQ dinner. Pat Brennan, John Schork, Phil Paxton and Claire Smith enjoyed a fabulous dinner and good conversation after a day on the golf course. Thanks Tu-Jin! It was a great time!
