SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2017 NEWSLETTER
F ROM OUR G OVERNOR
Dear Members,
Our condolences go out to the family of long time member Jerry Goldrick. He will be greatly missed.
The Blues Brews and BBQ’s was a successful event for the Chamber of Com-merce and a good time was had by all. We were very happy to see the new sidewalk completed in front of the lodge before this event.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Holly Daze event that is upcoming. We are always happy to be a part of the local events that honor our wonderful hometown!
The LOOM and WOTM sponsored holes for the Elwin (John) Brown Scholarship Fund. This is a yearly event to raise funds for the Masonic Lodge Cedar #60. It helps deserving students with funding for college in various districts. We are proud to be a sponsor at this event.
Looking forward to a prosperous fall and the cool weather. Thank you to all our members for all you do to support our Lodge.
Fraternally yours,
Vince Palazzolo, Governor

F ROM THE A DMINISTRATOR
Dear Members,
How time flies. The summer is just about over, but we have had so many great events.
Our Lodge received many awards at our Annual Conference at Sault Saint Marie. This is from the participation of all our mem-bers with lodge activities and those who have volunteered their time. I want to say ‘Thank You’! It is because of you, that our lodge received The Eddie Delsasso Directors Cup Lodge of the Year Award 1st Place, The Gold Heart of the Community Award, 1st place and Endowment Giving in Division B, 3rd place.
Our WOTM Chapter received 4thplace in the state and congratula-tions to Jennifer Spear for receiving her Green Cap, she has worked very hard and deserves it.
I am proud to announce that our Jr Past Gov. Felix Galuszka, received the office of Honorary Past State President . Also, I was sworn in as the new President of the MI Moose Association.
Again I truly want to thank all of you, our members, because we
are all here for the same reason. We keep up our dues to help
those in our Lodge, our community and our children at Moose-
heart and Seniors at Moosehaven
Fraternally,
Dale Johnson, Administrator
F ROM THE S OCIAL D IRECTOR
Dear Members,
Once again the Holly Lodge was selected as Lodge of the Year by the Michigan Moose Association so a special thanks goes out to our membership for making this possible.,
The Lodge will be hosting Holly Days on September 16th and we will be looking for volunteers to work the beer tent and serve food. Please contact me if you would like to help.
Make a note that November 11th is Veterans Day and the lodge will be having a pancake breakfast and later in the day a spa-ghetti dinner for all veterans. This event is open to all members.
Football season is ready to start so we will be hosting some tail-gate parties on Saturdays and Sundays. Watch for the selected dates.
Thanks again for all who help around the lodge do-nating time—we appreciate all of you!
And thank you for helping make our lodge great!
Your Social Room Director,
Bob Schultz

F ROM THE W.O.T.M.
Greetings Co-Workers,
Fall is in the air and the kids are ready to start school. It has been a busy summer. Our lodge picnic was a huge success thanks to the many volunteers and their hard work.
The Childrens Halloween Party is tentatively scheduled for October 28, 2017. We are looking for volun-teers to help with the kids activities.
Please also join us at our next meeting on Wednesday September 13th and bring your ideas. We need volunteers to help with the parties and activities throughout the year. Our Open meetings are the sec-ond Wednesday of each month so please try and come on down. We would love to have you get more involved in our wonderful chapter.
We are so glad to be able to participate in many fundraising activities throughout the year. Our most recent donation of $100.00 helped HAYA with school supplies for the Holly Area Students.
At the 2017 Conference in Sault Saint Marie, the Holly WOTM took fourth place over all the lodges in the state. We are so proud to have been in the top five yet again and thank all our membership for your dedication to our lodge, Mooseheart and Moosehaven.
Respectfully Submitted,
Barb Madsen Senior Regent and Holly Chapter 854 Board Members

First Responders Program Do you know a first responder or active military members who might be
interested in becoming a Moose? Now is the time to let them know!!
Beginning in January, 2017, the Moose started offering first-year member-ships at no cost to some core community heroes – first responders and ac-tive military members – on a limited trial. Because of the success of that in-itial offering, and the continued focus on community, Moose International has extended that program through the end of December 2017, and has added two categories – National Guard members and border patrol officers – to the list of included responders. These individuals bring three things to the Moose that are desperately needed, a shared commitment to serving others; a youthful, energetic viewpoint that can reinvigorate our fraternal units; and the potential to step into leadership positions within our lodges, chapters and Moose Legions.
INFORMATION TO NOTE:
– The promotional program has been extended to December 31, 2017
– All original categories in the Active Military/First Responders Program are still eligible
– National Guard members and border patrol officers may be added AFTER May 1, 2017
– – Don’t stop inviting qualified candidates in other fields to join the Moose. Even though fees and dues apply to these groups, adding members will make your lodge/chapter stronger
Take the time over the next several months to identify individuals and or-ganizations which step up in your community and invite them to join. The Moose cannot have enough members who recognize the benefits of giving to others and supporting causes purely because it’s the right thing to do.
