Baby OsbornOur East Texas Longhorn Associationhas seen a great deal of recent activityNovember 8 was the date of the Marquess Arrow RanchProduction Sale. Ron and Barbara Marquess reported that92 lots sold to buyers from nine states, with eleven statesrepresented in the audience on sale day. The Top Ten lotsaveraged $8225 and all lots sold averaged $2462. Ron andBarb and their extended family were gracious hosts, as always.

November 21-23 saw 142 entries in the Fourth Annual Kaufman Police Association Show, taking place in Athens,Tx. There were 66 animals shown in the Youth Division, with29 heifers and cows and 8 trophy steers shown in the Open,Non-Haltered classes. Exhibitors brought 39 entries throughthe ring for the Open haltered show. The youth exhibits werejudged by Richard Spooner of Stonewall, OK and Keith Dubose from Ben Wheeler, Tx judged the open shows.ETLA youth raised funds for scholarships by serving a pizzasupper on Friday evening and then on Saturday throughsponsorship of a Cow Patty Bingo competition and an auction of jars of barbecue sauce donated by the JesseRivera Family of Red Oak, Tx. Joel Norris and his crew didtheir usual excellent job of preparation and execution whichpaid off in a great weekend for everyone participating.
