fellowship, educating the Fellows on how to apply theories learned in the classroom to real-world scenarios.

“In my first year of mentoring an MS Management student, my initial apprehension quickly subsided because of the mutually beneficial nature of the experience,” said Joanne Braeunle, Vice President of Corporate Strategy at St. John’s Senior Living & Care. “Seeing my career and work through the eyes and thoughts of these exuberant, ambitious and perceptive students was surprisingly rewarding. The candid conversations about women in management, leadership and business dynamics were of particular interest to the students. Clearly a win-win experience!”

In addition to meetings with mentors, the Fellows meet with the Fellows Program Director on a regular basis. “In the past, the Fellows have expressed how important and helpful it is to meet with the program director in addition to the mentor meetings,” said Molly McGowan, Fellows Program Director and Lecturer. “It is great to

see the students so involved and motivated to make the most of their fellowship.”

Additional enhancements include leadership assessment tools that focus on personality traits to describe human behavior in various situations. Plus, the Fellows engage in readings that frame discussions around what it takes for successful business leaders to rise to the top.

Meet the Fellows

“This program has enabled me to learn about leadership in a way that I have never encountered before. By exchanging knowledge with a tight-knit cohort of peers and learning first-hand from my mentor’s experiences, I have been able to identify my personal leadership style and apply classroom concepts to a real-life business setting. Also, being able to discuss my career goals and receive direct advice from industry leaders is extremely helpful in planning out my career path.”

- Emma Aspvik MS Management ‘19

“This fellowship experience is very powerful. I feel that it is an extremely useful enhancement to the graduate college experience. My mentor is very accessible and willing to share tools from his toolbox and experience in his company that will help me throughout my career. The bi-weekly meetings with my peers and the program director is a good way to check in with people that are going through the same experience but with different stories to tell.”
