An encore performance Verdi’s Il Trovatore will be

shown in select cinemas on Wednesday, June 26,

2013, at 7:00 PM in all time zones.David

McVicar’s stirring production of Verdi’s intense

drama premiered at The Met in the 2008–09 sea-

son. This revival stars four extraordinary singers—

Sondra Radvanovsky, Dolora Zajick, Marcelo Ál-

varez, and Dmitri Hvorostovsky—in what might be

the composer’s most melodically rich score

An encore performance of Bizet’s Carmen will be shown in select cinemas on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 7:00 PM in all time zones.

Richard Eyre’s hit production stars Elīna Garanča as the seductive gypsy of the title, opposite Roberto Alagna as the obsessed Don José. Carmen "is about sex, violence, and racism—and its corollary: freedom," the director says about Bizet’s drama. "It is one of the inalienably great works of art. It's sexy, in every sense. And I think it should be shocking." Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts.

An encore performance of Rossini’s Armida will be

shown in select cinemas on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at

7:00 PM in all time zones.

This mythical story of a sor-ceress who enthralls men in

her island prison has inspired operatic settings by a multi-

tude of composers, including Gluck, Haydn, and Dvořák. Renée Fleming stars in the

title role of Rossini’s version, opposite no fewer than five

tenors. Director Mary Zimmer-man describes the work as “a buried treasure, a box of jew-els.” Armida is a fanciful and

magical tale with “an epic, enchanted quality and a tre-

mendous visual element.” Riccardo Frizza conducts.

An encore performance of Verdi’s La Traviata will be shown in select cine-mas on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at 7:00 PM in all time zones.

Natalie Dessay stars as Verdi’s most beloved heroine in Willy Decker's stunning production, first seen at The Met in 2010. Matthew Polenzani is her lover, Alfredo, and Dimitri Hvorostovsky sings his stern father, Germont. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi is on the podium. Fabio Luisi conducts.

Fathom Events and BY Experience are coming together again to celebrate some of the greatest artists of all time in a series of special one night events. For the first time ever, experience the 150th anniversary of Edvard Munch in Munch: Munch 150 on screen only on Thurs-day, June 27th at 7:30 PM (local time) in select cine-mas nationwide.

This year, all of Norway celebrates the 150th anniver-sary of the birth of Edvard Munch (1863 - 1944), one of the towering figures of modern art.

This is already being hailed a "once-in-a-lifetime show". Global interest is huge - not least as a result of one of his four paintings of The Scream having recently set a public art auction record of $120 million. Many know Munch as the man who painted The Scream, but his complete works are remarkable and secure his place as one of the greatest artists to have ever lived.

Munch 150 will be co-hosted by the National Museum and the Munch Museum, both in Oslo.

The event will be going behind-the-scenes to show some of the process of putting the exhibition together -

Fathom Events and BY Experience are coming together again to celebrate some of the great-est artists of all time in a series of special one night events. For the first time ever, celebrate the art and life of Johannes Vermeer’s subjects as he captured the 17th century in Vermeer and Music: The Art of Love and Leisure on screen only on Thursday, October 10th at 7:30 PM (local time) in select cinemas nationwide.

The National Gallery, London, is offering a major exhibition on one of the most startling and fascinating artists of all-time, Johannes Vermeer. Vermeer is most popularly known as the painter of the Girl with a Pearl Earring. Vermeer painted little more than 30 works that still exist, and the National Gallery has chosen to focus on his art in relation to music. Music was one of the most popular themes of Dutch painting and revealed an enormous amount about the sitter and the society.

The event goes beyond the exhibition to tell the entire story of Vermeer's life and, in doing so, shows in detail many other of the artist's great works. The program will suit the wide audience who adore Vermeer's work and who want both to see it in detail and to learn more about this mysterious, fascinating man.
