COWI‘s engineers, who are familiar with working across regions, master all discipli-nes related to the design of tall buildings. We work closely with the client and with the other members of the design team and thus maintain constant focus on high quality and cost effectiveness throughout the project.

COWI‘s engineers continuously implement new and faster construction techniques and by using the building system ap-proach, they ensure a rapid construction phase. Our innovative designers strive to adopt high performance materials, pre-fabrication of building components and to use advanced computerised modelling tools. Quality control and management systems are implemented to ensure that high quality projects are handed over to the client and the contractors at the right time.

COWI has acquired a proven track record for the design of high rise buildings through a wide variety of locations in Europe and the Arabian Gulf.

Construction PhaseHigh rise structures differ from low rise structures in the way they are built. In the construction phase, COWI assists the contractors in finding the most appropriate location for tower cranes, concrete pumps, hoists and lay-down areas, etc. Design verification of the building in relation to temporary services and structures is car-ried out throughout the project. In general, the projects are designed and developed so that they are practical and buildable to the satisfaction of our clients and the con-tractors.

COWI operates worldwide and offers:Complete design from conceptual design •

COWI masters the following kinds of engineering expertise in relation to the design of tall buildings:

structural engineering•mechanical and electrical engineering•sustainability and Green Buildings •

(LEED in the Middle East)acoustical and vibration engineering•3D visualisation•waste management•wind engineering•building dynamics•fire and safety engineering•geotechnical engineering•operation and maintenance•project management•site supervision and inspection•facilities management•due diligence studies•IT/telecom/automation•structural load testing•concrete technology•environmental studies•traffic impact study•building physics.•

The ArchitectClose co-operation with the architect is a key factor for the success of the project, especially in the initial phases. This inclu-des the sizing of structures and mechani-cal equipment while finding the most cost effective structural framing and mecha-nical, electrical and plumbing routes in relation to the general arrangement plans. Simplicity is of great importance, however, since many projects have mixed-use pur-poses, the most suitable location of trans-fer structures or intermediate MEP levels is developed in close co-operation with the architect. We strive to obtain synergies together with the architect by including buildable solutions and geometries.
