HIGH PERFORMANCEMICROWAVE AND RF INSTRUMENTS
• Compact • Efficient • Economical
www.pronghorn-solutions.com
The pronghorn is the fastest land mammal in the Western Hemisphere, capable of reaching 60 mph in short bursts and sustaining 35 mph for miles. In addition, they have amazing vision which allows them to see movement three miles away, live in herds with advanced communications systems, and have a highly developed sense of curiosity.
THE PRONGHORN SOLUTIONS PHILOSOPHYOur product philosophy at Pronghorn Solutions is based upon a single, arguably accurate observation: OVER 90% OF INSTRUMENT USERS ALMOST NEVER USE MORE THAN 10% OF ANY HIGH COST INSTRUMENT’S CAPABILITIES
For example, if there is need for 10 frequency synthesizers in a laboratory or production floor, typically only one of them has to be a high priced instrument with all the capabilities. Spending money on such instruments for the other nine is almost always equivalent to flushing it down the drain. Not something designed to make your investors happy.
Our solution is simple: We will give you the performance you need – from economical to the best, with all the capabilities needed for those 90% of the tests, minus the features you do not need in every instrument.
CHOOSING YOUR SYNTHESIZER Unlike other suppliers, PHS would like to make your choice of synthesizer fit your needs. Please refer to our Synthesizer Selection Guide on the web site to assist you in your selection.
CUSTOM DESIGNS Pronghorn welcomes custom design requirements. We can add items such as a closed loop control of power, modulation capabilities, or different power supplies or mechanical configurations. Please refer to our Design Capabilities section on the web site and contact us.
A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PHS MODELS Our synthesizer product families are the 8300, 8340, 8400, and 8500. The 8300 and the 8340 are Fractional – N Phase Locked Loop (PLL) models, and the 8400 and 8500 are Integer – N PLL models, which results in no so called fractional spurs. Our instruments are protected under US Patents 8611845, 8749282, and 9134355, and a number of other patents that are pending. As can be seen from the Summary Parameters our instrument families represent a wide range of performance. In addition, each instrument is available in one or more of three models, the M for modular, with lowest power consumption, the B for Benchtop, which allows addition of higher power and closed loop leveling capabilities, and the H for Handheld, which allows for Field use, especially when equipped with the available optional battery.

PHS INSTRUMENT & MODULE APPLICATIONSDue to their low cost and versatility, PHS instruments have applications in surprising areas, where they give the engineer a lower cost, higher performing alternative to their present equipment. We highlight a few of such applications below. For more information, click on the URL highlighted, or visit www.pronghorn-solutions.com.
Phase coherent multiple frequency operation, The ability to use a number of 8300, 8340, 8400, 8500, in modular configuration all operating from the same reference provides a low cost, high speed, high performance including microsecond totally phase coherent switching with any number of frequencies. Compare the cost of 5 PHS M series (<$ 8K typical each) with your present alternative.
Low Power High Sensitivity Drone Surveillance The PHS family of instruments, with their low power consumption, Quick Activate technology to go from Standby to Full Power mode, and bandwidth that has 30 GHz plus capability with sub 100 microsecond switching speeds, is your best bet. See out High Speed-Broadband-Power Miser configuration description on our web site.
High Sensitivity RADAR systems. The PHS 8400 and 8500 family, covering < 1 GHz to > 26.5 GHz in a 3.5” X 5.5” X 1” package with a total power consumption of less than 9 watts, and phase noise as good or better than the industry standard instrument synthesizers, with at the same time <100 microsecond switching speed, should be on any surveillance and RADAR receiver’s RADAR.
High Speed Signal and Spectrum Analyzers, Receivers, and Transceivers. PHS has received a FUNDAMENTAL patent on a new receiver (HSDR) that Totally Eliminates the need for preselection. Our technology allows us to cover < 1 GHz to >30 GHz at microsecond speeds. The companion, HSDT Architecture, also patent protected, allows a Battlefield Software Defined Transceiver architecture with THE VERY HIGHEST SPEEDS, and NO FALSE IMAGES.
Production, Field and Lab Testing – Instrumentation and Telecommunications/ Satellite Communications. These applications include creating or receiving signals in the field, testing of microwave subsystems on top of Antenna Masts, Multi Tone Testing of Amplifiers and Power Components, and RADAR simulation with utmost precision and speed.
OUR PRODUCTS ARE WORLD CLASS. OUR SOFTWARE, GUI AND FIRMWARE ARE WORLD CLASS, OUR TECHNOLOGY AND IP ARE CUTTING EDGE, PATENT PROTECTED.
