The Pipeline Crisis/Winning Strategies initiative is an ongoing effort, and we welcome your participation and support. Your generosity in sharing resources can have a substantial, positive impact on young black men through the substantive work of the institutions and programs contained in this directory. We encourage you to become a part of the solution.

Executive Summary

This directory of programs and scholarships for high achievers has been compiled as a result of The Pipeline Crisis/Winning Strategies initiative which “seeks to pool the talents, knowledge and resources of the legal, financial, business and human services communities to help reverse the rising rates of school drop-outs, joblessness and incarceration among young black men, and to increase their representation in the pipeline to higher education.”

The institutions and programs listed in this directory seek to help young black men of modest resources achieve better access to educational and cultural opportunities. Many of these organizations help other groups of people as well. The list provides information about contacting, donating, and volunteering time or other resources for each of the listed causes.

The directory groups the listed institutions and programs by region as defined in the table of contents below. The “Program Description” column briefly describes the mission of each organization; the “To Contribute” column provides information about how to make a financial contribution; and the “Getting Involved” column provides guidance on ways in which firms or individuals can help meet the non-monetary needs of the respective institution or program.
