    Rapid In-Theatre Deploymentof Concertainer Units

RAID is substantially quicker to deploy than conventionalHESCO Concertainer units. The RAID 7 variant candeploy 333 metres (1082 feet) of Concertainer Mil 7 inunder one minute, providing rapid cover from view for

personnel and mission critical assets and equipment.Deployment requires only one piece of MHE and twopersonnel. RAID provides a massive reduction instock-yard requirement. All these logistical burdensaving features are delivered for the same cost as the

equivalent length of conventional Concertainer Mil 1or Mil 7 units. RAID from HESCO - the next generationof Force Protection.

RAID has been designed to reduce thelogistical burden of supporting forceprotection missions on expeditionaryoperations, such as the construction of

    forward operating and patrol bases.

RAID utilises a specially designed andengineered container to providesignificant increases in the quantities ofConcertainer units that can betransported in a 20 container footprint. In addition, the container conforms to allISO stacking and transportationstandards.

The unique rapid delivery system of

RAID gives a reduction in therequirement for valuable manpowerand equipment during the executionphase of the mission.

traction and power. Equipment such aswheeled and tracked earthmovingequipment, wheeled logistic vehicles andwheeled and tracked combat vehicles

should be suitable. Once the container isat the start point, RAID is deployed in themanner described previously.

The unit being deployed is connected intoa length of 2 x 203m (for RAID 1) or1 x 333m (for RAID 7). However, theselengths can be split by the removal of twopins placed at convenient points along thelength. This ability to split the unit providesexcellent flexibility during construction:corners can be formed, more units can

be joined, gaps in the wall can be created(for entry points etc). Splitting units alsoprovides the benefit of only having to deploywhat is required - the remainder is leftinside the RAID container for future use.

Deployment in the field is simplistic. The container is delivered to site byeither load handling systems or byconventional truck.

If a vehicle fitted with a load handlingsystem is used for delivery, the containeris unloaded onto the ground but leftconnected. The container doors areopened and all securing straps removed. The first few cells of the unit are pulledout prior to the vehicle being directed todrive forward. The vehicle then drivesforward along the alignment that thewall is to be built.

Alternatively, where the container hasbeen delivered by conventional truck, thecontainer is off-loaded on to the groundand then pulled to the start point by asuitably sized vehicle with adequate
