Camp
Congratulations to all Stage 3 students on their fantastic behaviour during
camp. Your teachers were so proud of the values you displayed, your
willingness to give new things a go and the kindness shown to each other. I’m
sure your families were proud of you and happy to see you Friday night.
Thank you to Mr McLeod, Mr Makepeace, Mrs Landow and Mrs Tweedie for
leaving their own families to provide this fantastic experience for our students.
50 Year Fair- 2 weeks to go
Thank you to all those that were able to support the working bee on Sunday.
I’m sure you’ll agree the grounds are looking great.
Raffle tickets, wrist bands and tokens for the rides are currently on sale from
the office. Great prizes including an iPad can be won. Extra raffle ticket books
can be collected from the office.
National Athletics
Congratulations to Oscar and Jye as they prepare to represent NSW in the
nationals in Darwin. These boys continue to excel in their event winning gold
and showing great sportsmanship and encouragement to each other.
Tell Them from Me
Tell Them from Me parent survey is now open and a note will come home with the link for parents to have their say if they wish. We value your feedback so please consider completing this survey.
http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/ 5c5x5 You may remember that our students also participated in a Tell Them From
Me student survey in Term 1 this year. Asking students to complete the
survey twice in one year allows us to identify trends in student responses as
well as track engagement and motivation across the school year.
The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable
and quick feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they
are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. More
than 6,300 schools in Australia and around the world have used Tell Them
From Me to survey 5.4 million students. Capturing the voices of our students
will help improve how we do things at our school.

More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au
I want to assure you that the survey is confidential. The survey is conducted online and will typically take less
than 30 minutes to complete. It will be administered during school hours between 26 August and 25 October.
Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary.
A consent form and FAQs for parents/carers about the survey is being sent home with students. If you do not
want your child or children to participate, please return the form to school by Monday 16 September 2019.
Volunteers
Volunteers in our school must present at the front office before moving around our school. If you are coming to
visit your child or helping out in some way in the classroom please make sure you sign in at the front office and
you may be required to fill in some paper work and receive a visitor’s badge. This is a requirement of the
Department of Education to ensure the safety of everyone.
Attendance
Please ensure that if your child is away from school you inform their class teacher in writing the reasons for their
absence. Alternatively you may ring the front office and leave a message for the class teacher.
Swim school
Swim school starts next term for years 2-6 and the children should all have received a note. Please return as
soon as possible to reserve your child’s spot in the program.
Grandparents Day
Chertsey Primary School will be celebrating Grandparents Day on Friday October 25 from 9:30am. Grandparents
are invited to visit classrooms and have morning tea with their children on this day. A note will be sent home prior
to this event with further information.
Kindergarten 2020
Enrolments for Kindergarten 2020 are now being taken. If you know anyone who is of school age in our local area
please remind them to collect an enrolment form from the front office. Our Headstart program has begun and we
have enjoyed meeting our new Kindergarten students for next year. This program runs each Thursday from 9:30-
11am. If you have any questions please ask at the front office.
New Principal
As I mentioned in the last newsletter interviews were being held for our new Principal. Next term we will welcome
Mrs Sarah Baldwin to the role. Mrs Baldwin will visit before the end of term to meet our fantastic students, staff
and community. Congratulations Mrs Baldwin.

Parliament and Civics Education Rebate
Students from our school have recently undertaken an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia's history, culture , heritage and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government contributed funding of $20 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards the cost.
This rebate will be paid directly to the school . Please note the school also contributed $30 per student to attend this excursion to reduce the cost to families.
