Hello, I am writing to talk about the community work that myself and friends have been doing to try combat climate change. In our community we have been coming together and talking about how politics have been supporting the fossil fuel industry for many years now, and exploring how big business and fossil fuel companies have been highly influential in politics, and vice versa. We have started making lists of all the people who have tried to perpetuate fossil fuel use, and anyone who has slowed the transition to renewable energy. Mostly those in politics who support any fossil fuel use, or slow and transition to renewable energy. Also any people who have spread misleading information about the facts of climate change. We aim to hold all of these people to account in the future. When climate change issues become more sever in the not too distant future, people of Australia will be looking for who to blame. Our plan is to provide the details of all those politicians, business people and media people, to the public, so the people can then hold them too account. The current legal system makes it hard to hold them too account, but we believe when crisis hits enough people will be standing up looking for someone to blame, that there will be support for court cases to sue them of their wealth and superannuation, and hopefully press prison charges for the many crimes involved in destroying our earth. My recommendations to you to help support our fight is; Introducing a Carbon Tax Ending all subsidies to fossil fuel companies. Putting a ban on all new coal projects. Breaking all personal and political ties with fossil fuel companies within politics (political donations, personal ties, advertising support) We have no chance of tackling climate change if our political system so strongly support the fossil fuel industry. Communities will come together and hold those responsible to account. Best regards Darcy Vermont
