YOUR TITLE GOES HERE
Hello alumni, current students, new students,
faculty and staff! Inside this edition of HEARSAY,
you will read about our newest staff member in the
College of Liberal Arts (CoLA), Ms. Elizabeth Cho.
We are so very fortunate to have Elizabeth as our
dedicated Crime and Justice Studies advisor in
CoLA.
Speaking of fantastic, I would like to congratulate this year’s Outstanding
Graduate for the CJS Program, Miss Kendra Thibaut. Kendra will be graduating in
Spring 2020. Along with her major, she also has earned a minor in Sociology and a
Diversity and Social Inequality Certificate. She is the current president of the
University Activities Board, served as Director of Campus Spirit, and is a member of
Kappa Delta and the ’67 Society of WSU. She is currently in the hiring process for
the Dayton Police Department. See page 9 for more about Kendra.
We also co-sponsored a couple of public events this year from two outstanding
WSU Sociology Department alumni. Dr. Christopher Przemieniecki acquainted us
with his research on the Juggalo subculture, while Major Wendy Stiver of the
Dayton Police Department presented her NIJ funded research on Evidence-Based
Policing. We thank these two alums for their continued support of WSU and its
students!
All of our staff works extremely hard to keep all of you abreast of new courses,
upcoming course times/days, advising information, graduation updates, career
fairs, job openings, and upcoming events on campus and in the community. So
please, CHECK YOUR EMAIL often! Also, be aware that the CJS advisors change
often, so see page 3 for our most current advisor list. Please do not hesitate to
call, email, or stop by my office for a visit, should you have any questions or
concerns about the program. Also, do not forget to contact us with any alumni
