TID BITS FROM DAVID SIEGRIST

From where I sit I only see a few inch-es of snow on the ground.

Every weather forecast talks of minimal snow fall possible.

By the time winter ends, will we have any real snow?

Running the snow plow up and down the roadways for one inch of snow seems like a waste of time.

Under normal winter conditions we should have at least a foot of snow.

Aren’t you glad you bought those new snow tires and are just scrapping the rubber off for no snow.

Ready set SNOW.

You talking to me? Am I the only one here waiting for some snow?

RESIDENT NEWS AND ISSUES...By Debbie Zerrahn

It’s the time of the month when Tammy asks for our clever newsletter articles. Hum...what to write about? Well, Winter Carnival is in full swing. The Ice Palace in under construc-tion and the King and Queen for 2016 will be announced soon. For the next two weeks you will have plenty to do that doesn’t cost a cent or require a small fortune. Get out and En-joy!!

The annual re-certifications for the Algonquin Complex have started. If you have not made your appointment yet, please call me. Failure to complete an annual re-certification will result in termination. Also, a reminder for those of you who are required to complete Community Service: if you do not comply, HUD requires us to terminate your lease. You must complete and submit documentation for a minimum of eight hours each month. A total of 96 hours each year is needed to keep your low rent apartment.

February will be a very busy month with REAC (HUD) in-spections, annual recerts and Winter Carnival. Please help us to help you. Don’t forget to enjoy a little of Winter Carnival.

Happy Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day (office will be closed February 15).

Volume 16 Issue 2 HAPPY HEALTHY ATTITUDES

There are a lot of great things about February… Groundhog Day, Super Bowl Sunday, Valen ne’s Day

and Presidents’ day. Then of course there is Winter Carnival.

So many reasons to get out and enjoy our town and neighbors

“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”

~ E. E. Cummings ~

“Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but

just look what they do when they s ck together.” ~ Verna M. Kelly ~

Page 10: HEALTHY HAPPY ATTITUDES

Where should you look? Mattress (piping, sides, underside) Box spring (remove ticking) Bed frame Linens Furniture – seams, pleats, piping, joints Corners and drawers of desks, dressers, etc. Door, window, and baseboard trim Items on the floor

What should you look for? All life stages: eggs, nymphs, adults Skin casts Blood spots

How do you avoid them? Carefully inspect all used furniture, linens, and clothing be-fore bringing them into your home.

Wash and dry clothes on hottest setting items can stand. Transport clothes in plastic bags. Do not put clean clothes in bags used to transport dirty clothes. Throw those away!

Vacuum frequently. Remove clutter.

If possible, use a high powered flashlight when looking around your unit. If you find a bed bug, notify staff immedi-ately. Staff and you will work together to prepare for any needed treatment. Don’t delay. It’s much easier to treat one or two than it is twenty or thirty. Again, successful eradication requires resident involvement and cooperation. The sooner we know, the lower the costs to you and the Hous-ing Authority.
