Why HealthTran Exists… Increase access to healthcare. Demonstrate that access to public

transportation can improve patient health outcome.

Maximize public transportation. Minimize unnecessary healthcare

expenditures. Improve patient experience and

quality of life.

Where Are We Now? Transit trips average $3.00 for “in-city” to

$81-$150 round trip for specialty services depending on distance.

Mid-September 2015 Half way through the 3 year grant period

Barriers Lack of rural healthcare providers. Lack of transportation services/routes. Cost and distance of travel. Hard to navigate transit

schedules/systems. Lack of funding. Public awareness / stigma. Medical cost (copays) and insurance

changes. Silos among systems.
