CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

Continuing Education Credit Hours provide a standard measure of formal recognition of participation in an organized, professional learning experience. Most states accept approved contact hours for reciprocity and participants simply submit documentation of attendance and contact hours approval. Many professional organizations such as AHIMA, HFMA, SHRM and ACHE award continuing education credit with documentation of attendance. The program is also pre-approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (Provider No. 08769) for up to 11.75 contact hours depending on the sessions attended. HealthTech maintains pre-approval status with this board. You must sign in and out at each session to receive credit hours.

Paula Digby will join our Revenue Cycle Forum again this year and examine the importance of the Utilization Review

roleinthehospital.Clinical/physiciandocumentation is important in obtain-ing better financial reimbursement and Paula will provide an overview and expectations for the CDI role. She will offer recommendations so that oppor-tunities for improvement can be identi-fied and physician education offered. The CDI role is especially important as we move ever closer to the ICD-10 implementation. There will also be a session lead by Mike Lieb on physician practices and the revenue cycle.

As the saying goes: “How do you eat an elephant? Why… one bite at a time, of course!” So how do I tackle quality in my healthcare setting? How do I define it? And more importantly, how can I help my front-line staff to understand it? The answer is the same: one bite at a time. This session will provide the participant with some basic tools to assist in demystifying healthcare quality and bring it down to the granular level where it really counts.

1. Discover the two most crucial elements of Lean that every worker must know

2. Express a working definition for what healthcare quality means

3. Identify one Lean idea that can be implemented in the workplace by the frontline workers

Healthcare is rapidly changing as the nexus moves from the hospital to the outpatient setting. Following the patient through their journey within the health care system will allow the hospital to stay engaged with that patient even though they aren’t in a bed. The clinical and administrative excellence of a hospital con-tinues to be a key component of our complex system. TRANSPORTATIONThe Albuquerque Sunport is the closest international airport to Santa Fe. Sandia Shuttle Service offers transportation to and from airport to the Eldorado hotel. Reservations must be made by phone at 888-775-5696 and ask for the HealthTech discounted rate. The Santa Fe Municipal Airport is located just outside of Santa Fe where American Eagle airlines provides multiple daily flights.

ELEVATION & WEATHERAt 7,199 feet above sea level, the elevation is high enough to challenge the lungs of the visitor freshly up from sea level. Please be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. The average high temperature in September is 78 and low is 47.
