Public Health Services• It refers to the health care with low cost where medical

attention is given to the population and where government agencies such as the DIF (Integral Family Development) and SSA (Secretary of Health and Welfare) promote attention to health through campaigns to prevent the development of diseases.

• Public Health currently has 82% coverage of the entire Mexican population since 10 years ago when the government implemented the called Popular Insurance that provides medical care to all members of affiliated families.

Popular Insurance• The Popular Insurance is part of the Social Protection System in

Health, which seeks to provide health care coverage through a voluntary public insurance for low-income people who do not have jobs or are self-employed and are not entitled to social security institutions.

• The members of the families affiliated with the System of Social Protection in Health through the Popular Insurance will have access to medical, pharmaceutical and hospital health needs.

• Currently, the Popular Insurance offers coverage for 275 medical interventions, which are described in the Catalog Universal Health Services.

Health Insurance For a New Generation

• This program is part of Social Protection System in Health and its main objective is to protect the health of Mexican children born on or after December 1st, 2006. This insurance provides comprehensive medical care to children from birth until they are five years old and guarantees immediate membership of the entire family to the System of Social Protection in Health.

• The beneficiary's Health Insurance Program for a New Generation will be protected from the major diseases that occur in the first five years of life, but especially in the first month of life, which is the range where the greatest number of child deaths occur. Also, the beneficiaries of this program are entitled to 128 free surgeries.

Health Insurance For a New Generation• For its part, the families of children under five

years who join the System of Social Protection in Health through the Health Insurance Program for a New Generation will have the right to be automatically affiliated to the Popular Insurance.

Private Health Services• As for health care at the private level this is

because medical professionals exclusively practice at the private level. While others combine their profession working in government institutions and private level. Therefore some part of the population with sufficient financial resources make use of private medicine.

Private Hospitals

• The private hospitals offer their services 24 hours a day,7 days a week, 365 days a year, offering the highest quality in the services provided , with the latest technology as well as certified medical personal with specialties and subspecialties in their areas.

• They offer services not provided in government institutions such as computerized axial tomography.
