• Thane is one of the oldest cities in India, with its history dating back to about 2,000 years
• The city covers a vast area of about 128 Sq. Km. with population density of over 14000/sq.km.,
(Present population – 1.84 m, projected population (2031) – 3.4 m)*
• The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) is one of the most advanced local governments in India
