The $1.4million works were funded through the federal government’s National Black Spot Program. Speed reduction Nepean: Crs Hugh Fraser, Bryan Payne We have received approval from VicRoads to reduce the speed limit on Melbourne Road between Iolanda Street, Rye and Heather Street, Sorrento. The speed limit reduction from 80km/h to 70km/h will become effective when speed limit signage is changed. Temporary electronic signs will be displayed on Melbourne Road advising road users of the changes. The ‘Beam Me Up’ arcade games act as a strong social engagement tool for young people. To view a video featuring Councillor Hearn at the handover of the game machines visit: mornpen.vic.gov.au/arcadegames New solar lights Seawinds: Crs Simon Brooks, Antonella Celi, Frank Martin Innovative solar- powered bollard lighting has been installed at the Capel Sound shopping precinct. The new lights are the first of their kind on the peninsula providing light for 12 hours. The lights are designed to withstand the elements and vandalism and will reduce our carbon footprint.
