Street, Sorrento. The speed limit reduction from 80km/h to 70km/h will become effective when speed limit signage is changed. Temporary electronic signs will be displayed on Melbourne Road advising road users of the changes.

Innovative solar-powered bollard lighting has been installed at the Capel Sound

shopping precinct.The new lights are the first of their kind on the peninsula providing light for 12 hours. The lights are designed to withstand the elements and vandalism and will reduce our carbon footprint.

Electric lines clearanceTo keep powerlines clear of vegetation, we have works in the Rye and Portsea areas commencing soon. The pruning of street trees will be undertaken in accordance with best practice methods and some trees encroaching into clearance zones may need to be removed. Changed traffic conditions and minor delays could apply while the works are underway.

No commercial waste accepted. Proof of residency required. Dispose of leaves, lawn clippings, weeds, pruning and small branches as you prepare your garden for winter. Free tree giveawayWe’re giving away 2,500 indigenous trees from Monday 24 to Friday 28 April, 8.30am – 4pm. Two trees per household can be picked up from Advance Community College sites at Hastings, Capel Sound and Mornington. Proof of residency is required.

Both proposals are available for inspection at Council’s Rosebud, Mornington and Hastings offices before 5pm on the final day. The proposed budget aims to reflect the priorities identified by our community and feedback is encouraged. The proposed 2017–21 Council Plan provides a blueprint for how council will work towards achieving its strategic objectives.
