GM’S notes

Hi Everyone,

There were 25 members and two guests (Tin Tin and Graham) at the Bayee Pass carpark for this week’s joint run with FTAC. We were informed in the circle that there were no checks and we were to follow new paper and to stay on paper.

The run started up the tarmac road and then branched off to climb up the drain on the steep hill beside the main road. Once we were in the jungle the run settled into a wind round the ridge and then up, up, up, down, down, down, through the shiggy, wind round some more and so on, until we had completed the cycle three times. Apart from the shiggy and slippery mud which are part and parcel of the wet season run scenario, the run was very pleasant but it went on and on.

Darkness fell early and so the last part of the run was in the pitch black. Fortunately Frank knows the area well and he could confirm that we were in fact heading in the right direction towards the cars. We came out at 7.30pm but some runners came back around nine and some were not too pleased.

We had a short circle. First on ice was Bill who completed 500 runs the week before. He enjoyed the ice so much that we ended up singing “Why are we waiting?” to try to speed things up. There were no charges from the floor so the hares-Edna and Bill- were iced next. It was agreed the run was great but too long for a Thursday. The food was delicious and the location fine.

If you have any requests/articles/information to give the members please contact me. If you have a problem setting your run please contact a member of the committee as soon as possible. I have the hash paper please let me know if you need it! Rubbish!!! Please take care of your rubbish and not just throw it about anywhere!!! Waste bags are always available at our gatherings yet we still find rubbish strewn about. If we want to be welcomed back to our venues we should take care to make sure the area is clean when we leave! The committee are not here to clean up your rubbish. Please be thoughtful and dispose of all rubbish carefully. The ball has now been and gone, but what a fantastic night!! What a great turnout of 230 people making the Harriets ball one of the largest Hash gatherings for some years. It was wonderful to see such support from all the other Hash chapters in Penang as well as the One o’Clock Kaki’s. The committee thanks you all for making the evening such a success. In addition, the Harriets would like to thank all their sponsors and gift donors for their valued contributions to the evening. Thanks also go to Lucas, for his slide show and Angy, whose sizzling dance had men’s tongues hanging out! A special thank you to Richard Kang of Danz Club for his dance routine and his prize donations. Our very special thanks also go to our VIP guest, Y.B Danny Law, who took time out of his busy schedule to show his support for hashing in Penang and for his support for our 2000th run next year. I would like to thank my fellow committee members for their considerable time and effort in making this a success and those others, too numerous to mention, who sold tickets on our behalf and helped out on the night. Harriets 2000th Run This is a 3 day event happening from 25th to 27th June 2010. 25th June - Red Dress Run (RM50 which goes to charity)

followed by Welcome Dinner. 26th June - Main Run Day

Funny Stuff!!!!!

A father was explaining the facts of life to his teenage son. Obviously NOT: Due to the overwhelming NON response to setting up the Hash dragon Boat Team for Pesta Dragon Boat Race in December – you are all off the hook!!! Don’t worry – we don’t give up that easily. Dragon Boat does not stop so there will be more activity/competitions next year so watch this

space for more information in January 2010. I apologise to all of you who expressed an interest in participating but we need to have a full team and have to train for any event – Now we don’t want to come
