How did two girlfr iends from Carleton College end up designing an eco friendly line based out of. . .Argentina? There had to be a boy somewhere in this story.
“Well there was this boy. . .” Emily Harrison smiles slowly. A semester abroad. A boy. Buenos Aires. The stories unravel, and they’re as sweet and soft as the line’s leather.
“He ’s s t i l l a r ound , ” Jenn i e Engelhardt finishes, grinning. So, it seems, is the girls’ friendship. Best friends and business partners, there was no doubt in either of their minds from the very beginning that they would ultimately collaborate on a line together.
“It was just a matter of time,” Jennie declares. There’s no arrogance there; just the quiet confidence that comes when you know your product is good. So good, in fact,
that you simply cannot stop wearing it. Or keep it in stock. (After a recent Daily Candy appearance, one of their jackets completely sold out.)
The criteria?

Hare + Hart (a combination of the designers’ last names) is the new line we didn’t know we always craved. The girls walked into our office carrying a bag Santa Claus would envy for its size, and Gisele would rock on the catwalk with equal panache. You can put your life in it, it looks cool, and the price is amazing. It gets even better when you touch it.
Butter.
Then, the jackets. . .a little tailored because we’re not 16 and life is not Pretty in Pink, but just enough edge and just the right fit for a little of both. . .and just the right price.
