Happy New (4-H) Year!
We’re wrapping up another 4-H year and looking
forward to the beginning of the 2016-2017 4-H
year! Registration begins September 15th. Dis-
count enrollment is available again this year, and
is in effect between September 15th and Decem-
ber 1st. The fee for the year will be $20.00 for
families, with $10.00 donated by the Osceola
County 4-H Foundation. Please check with your
club leaders on fee payment, as all clubs have
different methods of handling payments. Thank
you for an incredible 2015-2016 year, and I can’t
wait to embark on 2016-2017!

State Fair Results
Congrats to our 4-H exhibitors that took livestock to the 2016 State Fair!
4-H IS POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Members of our Osceola County 4-H Shooting Sports Club competed in the annual SESS State Match on August 27th. This event was open to all 4-H Shooting Sports members that participated in our counties events during the 2015-2016 year. Chad Travaille tied for 1st, but lost his shoot off, and finished 2nd with a score of 97/100 in the senior
division in shotgun at the Iowa State 4h championship. He ran 50 strait to begin the competition. Natalie Klaassen
(intermediate) got 2nd in shotgun with a score of 89/100 . She ran her first ever 25 strait! She also took 3rd in com-
pound Archery. Kaden Maxwell (intermediate) took home the honors of a 3rd place medal in the Jr. division. Daniel De Boer (senior) and Jacob Nasers (intermediate) also
competed in the state Match. They both had good days, and competed quite well. We are very proud of all the kids
and their level of ability!
Interested in Shooting Sports? The Shooting Sports National Tryouts will be held on October 15th. Come and try out to see if
you can represent Iowa at the 4-H National Shooting Match in Grand Island, NE next June.
This event is open to all 4-H Seniors who are active members in the shooting sports club.

If you have completed a record book in the 2015-2016 year, please
turn it in to your leader no later than Monday, October 3rd. If you
need Project Record Forms, you can find them at http://
www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/page/record-keeping. Please fill out
page 1 and 2 of the Yearly 4-H Summary Form. The rest of your forms
can be found at http:// www.extension.iastate.edu/osceola/4h.
Leaders! Please turn in an evaluation form for each record book re-
viewed and ONE Osceola County Award nomination for your top Rec-
ord Book.

Blue Ribbon Fun!
The Clay County 4-H/FFA District
shows will be open to all eligible 4-H/
FFA members enrolled in Iowa 4-H/
FFA. The Clay County Fair is Satur-
day, September 10-Monday, Septem-

Senior Highlight
Meet Rebecca! A junior at Sheldon High School, she is looking
forward to working with her club this year and growing closer
with her fellow club members and her community. Her favor-
ite season is fall, because of all the beautiful colors. Her favor-
ite food is mashed potatoes. She also loves the color tur-
quoise and the song “Corn Fed” by Shannon Brown. When
asked her favorite 4-H memory- “when our club went to the
humane society of Sioux Falls to donate tie blankets we had
made for the animals. It made me very glad to see how happy
the animals got when they got their blankets and that we got
to play with them for a little while!”
Junior Stem
Come join us on September 24th from 9-11:30 am at the S-O Elementary
School for Jr. Stem! Kids K-2nd are welcome to come rotate through
different stations at the STEM-Play Zone!
Cost is $8 per person & includes a drink and snack.

Meet Your Extension…
Ashley Peters
Ashley is our new CYC for Osceola County. She is embracing the world of 4-H, after working
in the pharmaceutical industry. She, her husband (Nathan), and 2 sons (Henry & Freddie)
live in Little Rock and enjoy spending their time doing anything outdoors.
Favorite Season: Fall
Favorite Food: Three way tie—Shrimp Fajitas, Sweet Potato Fries, or Cheesy Hashbrowns
Favorite Vacation Destination: Anywhere—we LOVE road trips!
Our Clover Kids will start meeting again on October 5th, during early dismissal. Busses will transport
the kids directly to the library from school. We will be meeting from 2:30—4 pm and the theme for
this year will be “Earth Alert”.
If your child is between Kindergarten and 3rd grade, and interested in becoming a Clover Kid, please
visit our website at http:// www.extension.iastate.edu/osceola/news/4-h-online-information. In-
structions on how to register on 4-H Online are listed there. When registering, use “Clover Kids” as
your home club. You can begin registering after Tuesday, September 15th. If you need assistance
