• Mice were fed a standard diet for 14 days Diet intake was not reduced

• Diet consisted of GCBE containing caffeine (10%), and chlorogenic acid (27%)

• There was a significant weight loss of mice epididymal and perirenal fats

• No significance showing that caffeine relates to weight loss of body weight and visceral fat, however it does show significance in fat absorption rates

• Chlorogenic acid showed a weak correlation with body weight loss and visceral fat loss, but showed significance in suppressing hepatic TG levels

16 human subjects ranging in age from 22-46• 8 male, 8 female• All were considered overweight or pre-obese

Methods:• Subjects were put on a 6 week treatment period

followed by a 2 week washout period for a total of 22 weeks

• Started new treatment after 2 week washout period

• No change in diet or exercise
