    Halloween is an exciting holiday forchildren, but they can be vulnerable toinjury on this night. To ensure trick-or-treaters stay safe, Safe Kids recommendsthat children:

    Keeping Kids Safeon Halloween

    always trick-or-treat with an adult until age 10

    only trick-or-treat in amiliar areas that are well lit

    cross streets at corners, using trac signals and crosswalks

    look let, right and let again when crossing; always walk,dont run, when crossing streets

    make eye contact with drivers and watch or cars that areturning or backing up

    walk on sidewalks or paths; i there are no sidewalks, walkacing trac as ar to the let as possible

    never dart out into the street or cross in between parked cars

    wear light-colored, fame-retardant, costumes decorated withretro-refective tape or stickers

    wear well-tting, sturdy shoes to prevent trips and alls

    carry a fashlight or glow stick to increase visibility to drivers

    wear ace paint and makeup; a mask can restrict a childs vision

    Drivers need to do their part to keeptrick-or-treaters safe from harm. FedExreminds motorists to be extra careful thisHalloween and recommends that drivers:

    be especially alert in residential neighborhoods

    drive more slowly and anticipate heavy pedestrian trac on andnear the road

    be sure to drive with your ull headlights on so you can spotchildren rom greater distances

    take extra time to actively look or kids at intersections, onmedians and on curbs

    remember that costumes can limit childrens visibility and theymay not be able to see your vehicle

    enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and careully

    remember that children are excited on this night and may movein unpredictable ways

    remember that popular trick-or-treating hours are during thetypical rush-hour period, between 5:30-9:30 p.m.

    reduce any distractions inside your car so you can concentrate

    on the road and pedestrians

    lleven zapatos resistentes y ajustados para evitar cadas y tropiezos

    carguen una linterna u objeto luminoso para hacerse ms visibles a losconductores

    se pongan pintura de cara o maquillaje: una mscara puede restringirla visibilidad de los nios

    Los conductores tienen que jugar un papelen ayudar a los trick-or-treaters evitenpeligro este Halloween. El FedEx quiererecordar a los automovilistas que tenganmucho cuidado este Halloween y lesrecomendamos que:

    Manejar conprudencia elHalloween

    Tengan cuidado especialmente en los barrios residenciales

    Manejen ms lentamente y esperen que hay muchos peatones en la

    calle y cerca de ella

    Manejen siempre con los aros siempre encendidos para poder notar a

    los nios desde una mayor distancia

    Tomen el tiempo para activamente buscar a nios cerca de cruces,

    rayas divisorias y bordillos

    Consideren que ciertos disraces llevados por los nios pueden limitar

    su visin, y puede ser que no los vean a Ustedes aunque lo ven a ellos

    Entren en y salgan de los caminos de entrada lentamente y que tengan

    mucho cuidado

    Se recuerden que durante esta noche, los nios estn muy

    entusiasmados y puedan moverse en una manera imprevisible

    Se recuerden que la hora ms popular de Trick-or-Treat ocurre

    durante la del mayor circulacin, o sea 5.30pm-9.30pm

    Reduzcan algunas distracciones dentro del carro para poder

    concentrarse en la calle y en los peatones

    treat bag. Use a flashlight or glow stick

    when walking at night.

    Im trick-or-treating in a group.

    Dont go it alone while trick-or-treating.

    Kids, if youre under age 12, make sure

    you go with an adult. Older kids should

    always go with buddies.

    I cross streets at crosswalks

    and intersections.

    Stop at street corners. Look left, right

    and left again before crossing and

    dont cross between parked cars!

    Remember, never step into the street

    without looking to see if a vehicle is

    coming.

    I make sure my parents check

    my treats before I eat them.

    Pick only wrapped candy when you

    trick-or-treat. Ask your parents to

    check all treats to make sure they are

    safe.
