The Mustard Seed is a weekly bulletin publication growing Catholic community through evangelization and con-
nectivity in the community. The vision of the Mustard Seed is to walk together as disciples of Jesus Christ sharing
the gifts of each person in meaningful ways. This new, small way of being community helps us work together in
building up the Kingdom of God.
A CELEBRATION OF CATHOLIC MOTHERHOOD
May is a month to celebrate the great gift of our Moms. All of us have a mom. Some of us know
our moms. Some of us don’t know our moms. Some of our moms are still with us in this life, some of our
moms have moved on to the next life. Some have great relationships with their mom, and for others it
is a difficult relationship. No matter our circumstance, we each can pray for our moms this month,
wherever they may be right now.
We want to invite the community to a Celebration of Catholic Motherhood in May! We value
the dignity and beauty of motherhood, so we are taking time in community, reflection, and prayer to
share in this beautiful value. It will be the highlight in three gatherings, May 20 & 21:
- My sister, Michelle (Moravitz) Hacker, will be a keynote speaker at a FREE SUNDAY BRUNCH on
SUNDAY, MAY 20, at 11:00am in the social hall of HOLY FAMILY PARISH. My sister heard the call to
motherhood when she was young and discerning her vocation. We often hear of people hearing a
call to religious life or priesthood, Michelle heard the call to Motherhood and entered on a path
toward this calling. It took her trust and a heroic amount of patience. Her story is beautiful and inspir-
ing, one that involved a great deal of suffering in her heart, but a tremendous Joy after the suffering.
Come meet her! I always say, “she’s the saint of the family”, she is very close to the Lord.
Register for Brunch by emailing [email protected].
- Mother Mary Clare is the foundress of the Handmaids of the Heart of Jesus in New Ulm, MN.
Mother will be with us on the same Sunday, May 20 for a Holy Hour at 6:00 PM at Holy Family to share a
reflection on “Spiritual Motherhood in the Church Today”. Join us for an hour of Adoration. Mother will
share with us about her role as a Spiritual Mother. She is an inspiring woman of a young age who is on
fire with the Holy Spirit. You are going to want to come meet her!
- Pope Francis has declared a new feast day, Mary, Mother of the Church. We will celebrate
this first in the history of the church with a Mass at Saint Lawrence, Monday, May 21 at 6:00 PM. The
Knights of Columbus will have a beautiful image of the Holy Family displayed and share in special
prayers during this Mass. Please, join us for a special Eucharistic Celebration to honor Mary as our
Mother!
To all of our moms, we say thank you for the gift of life. Be certain of our prayers. Pray for us, that
God’s grace may lead us to love you as we are called to love you and in the ways you need us to
love you. Happy month of May in honor of you! Have a blessed Mothers Day 2018!
May God bless you and may Jesus Christ be praised!

is $100, and scholarships are available. They engage in prayer and reflection each day, and consider their voca-tional futures and how they might use their talents in a meaningful way in their careers. Participants also have the chance to explore the shores of Lake Superior. The institute wraps up with a two-and-a-half day wilderness retreat at Cascade River State Park.
