STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT Yesterday at the 3-6 Assembly, 23 students were presented with their Bronze Award, 20 with their Silver Award and 13 with their Gold Award. The pride shown on each student’s face when they were recognised at assembly was priceless. In the case where a student is absent from the assembly we s ll read out their name and recognise their excellent appli-ca on of our school values: Safe Respec ul Responsible Learner. Once again, congratula ons to the boys and girls and their families for achieving Bronze, Silver or Gold. Stu-dents who achieve GOLD will be invited to either the K-2 or 3-6 GOLD Party to be held on Monday 11 December. Lunch, popcorn and a movie will be organised for these students in recogni on of their commitment to the values of GPS.
Parents and Ci zens Associa on (P&C) The P&C con nue to create new ways of engaging and in-cluding parents. The upcoming Scrapbooking workshop (Thursday 23rd November) sounds terrific and should pro-vide an excellent opportunity to connect with other parents by sharing stories and experiences.
KINDERGARTEN TRANSITION FOR 2018 START
Kindergarten Transi on provided opportuni es for next year’s kindergarten children to make some sense of school. To see the classrooms, work along side other chil-dren, engage with teachers and build their confidence in being away from parents and carers in a different environ-ment. 2018 Kindergarten teachers and support staff have had the opportunity to observe children’s social, emo on-al and cogni ve skills. These observa ons assist staff in iden fying children’s interests, skills and any difficul es they may have. Kindergarten teachers look forward to the 2018 Kinder-garten Parent interviews which are scheduled for Monday 27 November. I’d like to acknowledge Mrs Haidar and Miss Corso for leading staff to ensure a smooth and com-fortable Kindergarten transi on.
Please REMEMBER the Safety of Our Students
It is imperative that everyone drives slow-ly in and around school areas. Signs are put up on our gates to remind everyone. Please remember that children don’t al-
ways think to check for cars, it is the responsibility of the driver to

one of our beautiful & thoughtful Kindy teachers, Mrs Fitzgerald KF got her whole class to bring
them up, what a lovely thing to do.

Today, at 10am, we went to the newest classroom with 3T for the Nutrition Program. It was right in front of the back school gate. We had a very fun, interesting discus-sion about different types of yum healthy food to eat and what different types of stuff we can do if we start being more and more healthy. Next we were going to start making some yummy, healthy wraps and there were different types of ingredients that we could put in the wrap. Some of the ingredients were cooked like the mushrooms, zucchini and the tortilla and some weren’t like the tomatoes, lettuce, cheese and more cucumbers. We started by getting in two lines with girls at the very front and we went around the table while getting our food to put on our wrap. What I put on my wrap was lettuce, cucumber, tomato, cheese and tortilla, so it was very yum and healthy for me. Other people had mushrooms a Thanks nd zucchini with theirs, because they like mushrooms and zucchini or they want to try new things. After that, we all sat down while we were eating our wraps, so the chef (Chef Daniel) could tell us that it is good and healthy for you to eat 6 times a day. Finally, our teachers told us to get in lines and say “Thank you’’ to Daniel for telling us how good it is to be healthy. Then we left to recess. Anika Penitani 3C
Today, we went to a special program. All the stage two classes went with us, it was called a nutrition program. The person that taught us was Chef Daniel he was very clever with food. He taught us all the things in the new demountable, it was very cool. He had lots of information about healthy food because he went to different coun-tries around the world and ate lots of different foods. It was a program about healthy food to eat! He said if you eat healthy food you will get fit and your dreams will come true! I didn’t know that. We also made wraps with healthy food in it but he helped us a little bit, and that was putting the wrap together with chicken in it. The bread that we used was called Tortilla bread. When we ate it, it tasted delicious! So some people had 2 wraps”. It was amazing”, he gave us lots of information about it. What i learnt was that you should eat healthy food every day because it’s so good for you. Anyway, Chef Daniel dis-cussed lots of healthy food all around the world. The in-gredients that we had to make the wrap were lettuce, cucumbers, mushrooms and lots more. I loved the pro-gram especially the part when we made the wrap. He also told us the dangerous part of a knife and it was the part where you hold it.

ed building a bridge, weather, memory shapes, where’s
Katie?, monkey madness, hexagon horns and find the
treasure. At World of Maths we learnt that Maths can be
difficult and very fun. From Shubham.
The world of maths was on the 24.10.17. There were
games that were called where’s Katie, memory, build a
bridge, monkey madness, hexagon horns and find the

updated their e-safety website to
include a useful parent portal
which is intended to guide and support parents and their
children to keep up to date with digital technologies and
their use both at home and at school.
It is becoming even more crucial to stay up to date and to
know what to do if you or your child encounters something
negative on the internet. This includes cyberbullying, inap-
propriate comments or photos posted online or spam
emails.
If you or your child see something that you feel is inappro-
priate online you can report it directly through this website:

A parent’s guide to online safety is also available to
download in multiple languages including: Turkish, Arabic,
Dari, Persian, Vietnamese,
Please see the website for more resources, support and
strategies to support your child to be safe online.

On Tuesday the 31st of October, Stage 3 went on an exciting journey to Bondi Beach to see “Sculptures by the Sea”. Sculptures by the sea has 104 sculptures that come from 15 countries. Artists used the ocean and sky to create their message. Some of them are 2 di-mensional or 3 dimensional sculptures. Some artists brought material to the site and made it on site. One such sculpture is called the Reverb, which the artist bought the limestone gravel and paint to form the sculpture. As well as embracing sculptures we also got inspired by many artists to make a sculpture of our own. One of my personal favourites was the Hamburger Sculp-ture, which was mainly about littering and the impact that throwing rubbish and food into our oceans has on society. Stage 3 had an amazing day experience seeing the different sculptures as well as enjoying the soft sand at Bondi! By Aaliyah Faletutulu and Madison Osekerita 6K
