How to Download the Kardia App and Use the Kardia AliveCor Device for Health Care Professionals The expected prevalence of AF in Wessex is 97,000 people. Almost 20,000 people (20%) have not yet been diagnosed. 1 in 20 people with AF will have a stroke if not anticoagulated. In order to find this number of patients each AliveCor device needs to be used at LEAST 5 times a day with patients over 65 years of age. Therefore the AHSN Network are undertaking a nationwide deployment and impact assessment of mobile ECG device technology, with funding from NHS England. How to Download the Kardia App and Use the Kardia AliveCor Device for Health Care Professionals

Once you have obtained a nhs.net email address you can obtain NHS digital guidance on configuring mobile devices with nhs.net.

2. Download the Kardia App from the Apple App Store or Google Play StoreThis only needs to be done once on each mobile device being used, if already set up go to step 4

3. Create a Kardia account using your NHS.net email address

Once you have downloaded the App. open it and create an account. If you do not wish to share your personal information a pseudonym will suffice, however the date of birth must be for an individual over the age of 18

PLEASE note: The AHSN Network recommends use of the Kardia Basic App. The Premium App is provided free for the first 30 days (this service WILL store traces taken). We advise all traces taken using the free premium app are deleted to prevent any patient data being stored on a personal device. No personal identified information (PID) should be added to any trace

4. Register with AHSN NetworkThis will allow the AHSN Network to track the activity data of the users Kardia account, and thus monitor use and positive diagnoses to inform the national targets. . All users undertaking AF readings must register with the network

Please note your AHSN network area is WessexYour local CCG will be in your area localityThe serial number of the device can be found on the back of the box and is the long number beginning with B210AC0090/$$................Multiple users of the same device should use the above link register their email address and log the serial number of the device being used.Please note AliveCor do not recommend the use of one email address for multiple devices.

5. Record your first ECG

Consent is implied when a patient uses the AliveCor, however if requested you should make the individual aware that their anonymous ECG trace will be shared with Alivecor Ltd. (See Information for Patients on the use of AliveCor Kardia mobile devices (under the NHS England roll out) in the ‘how to pack’). No patient identifiable data should be entered into the Kardia App and all traces should be recorded in the guest mode. If patients request more information please ensure a copy of the local privacy notice is available.

Possible AFSend ECG for referral by clicking the email EKG icon at the bottom of the trace.Send ECG using NHS.net email account to a recipient NHS.net email.

Email immediately so not to lose the ECG when the device is next used.

DO NOT ADD ANY PATIENT IDENTIFIABLE DATA INTO ‘ADD NOTE’ FUNCTION OF THE APP.

Personal data must ONLY be added within the body of the email

7. Ensure no patient identifiable data should be left on the deviceLog out at the end of each session to ensure no ECG traces are stored on the device.
