GIMTGirijananda chowdhury institute of management and technology

MESSAGEFROM PRINCIPAL

Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management & Technology – an initiative of Shrimanta Shankar Academy – was established in September 2006 as a first Engineering and Management College in the non-governmental sector in Assam. The institute is approved by the AICTE as well as by the Govt. of Assam and is currently affiliated the Assam Science and Technology University. In its first academic session, the institute offered BE programmes in Applied Elec-

tronics & Instrumentation Engineering (AEI), Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Infor-mation Technology (IT) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE). Subsequently, over a span of a decade, the institute has introduced 2 (two) UG Programmes in Electrical Engineering (EE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) and 5 (five) PG Programmes namely Mas-ter of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Computer Application (MCA) and MTech. in Instrumentation & Control Engineering (ICE), ECE and CSE.GIMT, Guwahati, since its inception, has been rendering a remarkable service in promoting and popu-larising engineering and management education in this region with a vision of transforming our youths into competent, disciplined and quality engineers and administrators, who would have the skills and competencies to become global pioneers of tomorrow. It is worth mentioning that the untiring efforts of our faculty members & staff as well as the trust vested on us by the guardians, students and re-cruiters are priceless in our endeavour towards occupying a prestigious place in the engineering and management educational sector of this part of the country. This is reflected from the fact that five of our UG programmes (AEI, CSE, ECE, EE and ME) were accredited for 2 years w.e.f from July 2016 by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) – a feat too hard to achieve and has put us in prestigious position of becoming the first non-government college in the NE Region to obtain such recognition.Further, in an effort to continue with the legacy of Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society towards im-parting quality education, GIMT employs a perfect blend of academics and co-curricular activities in all its UG & PG programmes. The institute follows a modern and dynamic curriculum with faculty mem-bers using innovative teaching pedagogy. Our students are continuously encouraged to pursue various short-term courses related to their domain as well as are trained on soft skills. All these are offered under the aegis of its Finishing School, with an aim to hone the employability skills of our students further. Undoubtedly, our students are strong enough in terms of domain knowledge, attitude, skills and values. Perhaps this is why GIMT has become a choice of major recruiters. Needless to say, the performances of GIMT alumni are always appreciated and today, most of our alumni are well placed in Government as well as in corporate houses.Last but not the least, as a Principal of GIMT, it gives me immense pleasure to take this opportunity to invite you to the Institute’s Placement Program of 2018-2019. I hope our GIMTians would not only meet your requirements but even surpass your expectations.
