is a global food company, proudly Mexican, a world leader in the production of corn flour and tortillas, as well as a major player in the category of wheat flour and products thereof as flat breads or flatbreads and other staples. GRUMA has a significant presence in 105 Countries through its global brands. GRUMA has more 60 years experience, has over 20,000 employees and 94 plants in America, Europe, Asia and Oceania. In 2010 GRUMA had net sales of 3,2 billion US dollars

Gruma was born in May 1949 in Cerralvo, Nuevo León, with the first plant producing nixtamalized corn

flour in the world

In this way the problem of the preservation of nixtamal masa for making tortillas, the main staple of

the Mexican people was solved.

Decade in which the process of nixtamalized flour production is refined, creating MASECA brand.

The second plant is built in Acaponeta Nayarit.

Decade of nationwide expansion with openings in different regions of

Mexico.

In the middle of the decade, Gruma reaches the U.S.A. and acquires

Mission Foods’ plant in California, which is currently the No. 1 brand

worldwide.

Gruma internationalization begins, and under request of the

Government of Costa Rica, Gruma enters the corn flour market in that

nation.

Gruma acquires 10 plants in the United States, where it builts its first corn flour mill, giving birth to Azteca

Milling.

In the same Country, Gruma acquires

Guerrero, a brand loved by Mexicans.

In 1994 Gruma makes initial public shares

offer within the Mexican Stock

Exchange.

Gruma strengthens its presence in Central

America and expands its operations in

Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador

and Venezuela.

In 1998, Gruma joins in the New York Stock

Exchange with GMK.

Gruma opens its first plant of tortillas on the European continent,

in Coventry, England, conquering the English palate with its famous

wraps.

Gruma acquires a corn flour mill in Italy and a tortilla plant in Holland.

During the same year it began operations in China, becoming the

Mexican company with more investment in this

country.

Gruma acquires Pride Valley Foods in Seaham, England, starting its

conquest of the category of flatbreads.

Gruma also expands its presence in Oceania

through the acquisition of Rositas.

Launch of the Mission flatbreads of The World in Australia and Europe.

The Panorama City plant is inaugurated in the USA with high specifications of sustainability, energy and water savings.

The Ukrainian plant is acquired.
