With another Council term underway there is much excitement about growing opportunities in the Grimsby community. Plans to complete portions of the West End Waterfront Trail are well underway which will result in a fantastic park along the waterfront. Development of our Southward Community Park is progressing and this will offer a great deal of active opportunities for citizens of all ages and a wide variety of interests.

Be sure to visit our newly named Livingston Activity Center at 18 Livingston Avenue. This Center offers a wide variety of activities for the 55+ population including fitness programs, special events, speakers, cards, games and much more.

As you will see in the leisure guide there are many recreational opportunities available to you, please be sure to take advantage of them. There are also many special events and activities that you can enjoy this summer, including the new Summer in the Park series, the growing Happening at the Forty event and the very popular weekly Farmers Market and more.

Many of the events, leagues and programs that take place in our community are organized and run by volunteers. Without these volunteers it just wouldn't be possible to have all of the opportunity that exists in Grimsby. On behalf of the Town of Grimsby Council and Staff, we thank our volunteers for creating so many possibilities in Grimsby.

Mayor Bob Bentley

Swimming Lessons GuidelinesThe Preschool Swimming Program is for ages 0-5 years. Once children are 6 years of age they move into the regular Swim program. For assistance with that transition please contact our office or visit our website for the conversion chart. We also have the Lifesaving Society and YMCA conversion chart on our website (www.grimsby.ca). If you would like for us to assess your child for placement in a swimming level we are happy to do so once the pool opens. Please note, that we will do our best to make level adjustments if deemed necessary, however it is restricted by class availability.

We ask that parents only register for one session of swimming lessons at a time. This is to ensure that all residents get opportunity for at least one session. It is also not recommended to register for a second set of lessons until you know what level to register for, as changing levels can be difficult during our busy sessions.

Help Reduce Pool Closures:✔ Take a bathroom break before entering the pool✔ Children not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper.✔ Avoid consuming large meals before swimming.✔ Apply sunscreen at least 20 min before swimming.✔ Shower before entering the pool area.Aquafit $5.00
