The College Principal Prof. Bushra Shameem inaugurated the celebrations on March 22nd 2013 with the plantation of several types of plants. All the teaching and non teaching faculty members participated in the plantation drive.

The NGO DAWN organized a plantation drive of Italian Cupress trees in the College campus in collaboration with the NSS Wing of the college, Faculty of Agriculture SKAUST Kashmir, Wadoora Sopore and Kashmir Mercantile Co-operative bank LTD Sopore on 2nd April, 2013. The function was inaugurated by Dr. Syed Hanief Balkhi, SDM Sopore. The staff and NSS volunteers actively participated in the programme. The SDM, Sopore assured full cooperation and support to the Principal for the College development to its maximum. He also urged the civil society to pay more attention in solving the problems faced by the College as it is in infancy stage. The Principal, Dr. Yasmin Kawoos thanked the representatives of the NGO DAWN, SKAUST, the Civil Society and Kashmir Mercantile Co-operative Bank Sopore for organizing the plantation drive in the college.

LA passes Bill on development of Golf Courses in JKJammu, Apr 3: The House today passed the Bill per-taining to the improvement and development of Golf Courses in the State. The LA Bill No. 12 of 2013 was moved by the Min-ister for Law & Parliamen-tary Affairs, Mir Saifullah on behalf of Minister for Tourism in the Legislative Assembly. The Bill was discussed in detail and House passed it after brief discussion with a minor amendment suggested by the Members. Nasir Aslam Wani, Aijaz Ahmed Jan, Harshdev Singh, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Dr. Sheikh Mus-tafa Kamal and Ashwani Sharma took part in the discussion.

Srinagar, Apr 3: Director General, Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Naveen Agarwal emphasized for infusing momen-tum in the sport activities in the Valley to nurture healthy physique among the sports per-sons and to utilize the talent for producing better athletes who can compete in the national and international events. This was stated by the Direc-tor General while reviewing the functioning of Youth Services and Sports department here today. Among others, Joint Direc-tor, Youth Services and Sports, Madan Lal, Deputy Director, Youth Services and Sports, Kash-mir, Nilofer Amin and district officers attended the meeting. Threadbare discussions were held for giving fillip to the sports activities in edu-cational institutions of the Valley. It was given out in the

meeting that as many as 5000 students of Kashmir division participated in various events of divisional and inter district level, while 500 students of the Valley took part in the State level inter district games in Jammu division also during the last financial year. It was also informed that 300 students of the Valley participated in 58th National School games. Agarwal on the occasion assured all the district officers of Youth Services and Sports that their demands shall be taken care of on priority basis so that sports events can be organized in all the educa-tional institutions. He also exhorted upon the officers to make judicious use of the available resources for orga-nizing sports events in all the educational institutions.

Jammu, Apr 3: A 13-mem-ber delegation of the All J&K National Youth Corps Volun-teers met NN Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today.

The delegation, led by Asif Ali Bhati, State Vice President of the Association and Sayed Bakar Jafri, Joint Secretary, presented their demands to the Governor, which related mainly to the continuation of their services and their retention in the departments in which they are deployed and converting their monthly honoraria into salary.

Interacting with the dele-gation, the Governor informed the delegation that the issues raised by them would be taken up with the Minister for Youth Services and Sports.

RCB: VettoriBangalore, Apr 3: Royal Chal-lengers Bangalore’s Daniel Vet-tori on Wednesday said their opening match against Mumbai Indians on Thursday will give them a chance to assess where the team stands and what would be their course of action during the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League. “Mumbai Indians have got strength, all up and down the lineup. It is a great opening game for us. It will give us real test of where we are early on and we can assess how we can go in this competition depending on how we perform against the Mumbai outfit,” said Vettori. New Zealand spinner, who handed over the captaincy to Virat Kohli after the Indian had a taste of the top job last year, said his role this season would be to play as a senior member and con-tribute to the team’s success. “Hopefully, the senior

guys like me, AB (de Villiers) and Chris Gayle can support him (Kohli),” said Vettori.
