Grassy Pond

• Grassy Pond is a 500 acre recreation area with a 275 acre pond that has 17 cabins, 39 RV/Tent sites, four group shelters and a recreational boat area.

• This area is made for people who have been in the military or are currently serving in the military. This site allows people to enjoy time away and enjoy the beautiful outdoors for reasonable prices.

• I started my day off at two of the 17 cabins available to rent. My job was to make sure the cabins were spotless and perfect for the next person to come stay.

I actually do not mind cleaning and I enjoyed it! I felt good that I was helping people personally from the Military by

giving them a place to stay! The area was very beautiful too!

• I got a chance to help out by their main attraction, the lake. I picked up and organized life jackets of all sizes. I picked up trash and other leaves around the lake so the environment stays nice and clean. I got to take a boat out for a bit to clean up on the lake itself. They had many barbeque areas and sand volleyball courts so I went around the whole complex and picked up any trash or extra sports equipment.

Why I picked Grassy Pond?• I picked Grassy Pond because I personally

know a lot of people in the military and I wanted to give back to the people who give our country so much!

• Military people work so hard each and everyday risking their life for ours. In the past I had never come across a place like Grassy Pond. A place that is so dedicated to give back to the men in honor. I wanted to be part of this organization by helping them.

The Cabins I Cleaned!!

• Community Service is very important to me because it is about giving back to people who need your help. I believe the ability to give back to people is a great gift and everyone has potential to do so. I enjoy community service personally because I am getting nothing back from it. It is an opportunity to give your skills and yourself to something else for a period of time. I feel like I am healthy and happy and have no reason to not be able to help other people that might not be as fortunate as I am. After doing community service I feel good about myself naturally. It is a way to brighten my day just a little bit further!!

Did I enjoy Community Service?

• YES! I really enjoyed doing my community service. I picked the place I felt that I wanted to give my time to. I am so glad I got an opportunity to help out Grassy Pond by giving them my services. I would go back to help again and actually I have been back once more because I liked it so much. I think they run a great facility!

Community Service

• I had a great time doing community service for this class

• In the future I am going to try to find more time away from myself to give back to the people who truly need it

• I would like to be more involved in such organizations such as habit for humanity and I would like to help the red cross.

• This opportunity has made me realize that community service can be fun and interesting.
