The%irstGenghisKhanMTBAdventuretookplacein2007,withtheGrasslandMarathonhavingitsinauguraleditiononeyearlaterin2008.Sincethen,theuniqueInnerMongoliangrasslandeventinXiwuqihasquicklyestablished
itselfasapopularannualtraditionforbikers,runners,adventuristsandotheralternativeculturelovers.TheeventisalsoknownastheGenghisKhan
Festival.Inco-operationwithNordicWays,Chinasleadingsporteventorganizer,Run
ChinaoffertravelpackagestoGrasslandExtremeMarathonandGenghisKahn
MountainBikeAdventure.Theeventstakesplacecanbedoneseparatelyor
combined.Thispopulartravelarrangementequallyattractsrunners,mountain

The7thGenghisKhanFestivalwilltakeplacebetween5and7July2013,withtherunningcompetitiontraditionallyinthemorningofthesecondday(6July).
NewforthisyearisthattravelersparticipatinginboththeMountainBike
eventandtheMarathoncancompeteforthetitleKingorQueenofthe
Grasslands.
BeforeandaftertheeventsinInnerMongoliawespenddaysinBeijing%illedwithexcursionandtourstohistoricalsightssuchastheForbiddenCity,theGreatWall,andtheSummerPalace(seepage4).Ourtravelpackagesincludeshotel,raceentry,excursionsanddomestic%lights.

choiceofdistanceisbetween74and200km.Thelongerdistanceoption(102km)inthirdstagehavesometechnicallydemandingpartsbutcannotbeconsideredmoredif%icultthanthatallparticipantsshouldbeabletomanagethrough.
