How was the GrandCanyon made?

The vast canyon was cut through many layers of rock by the muddy waters of the Colorado River. The bodies of humans and other animals contain several different kinds of glands. In general, glands are tissues that produce substances that help other tissues or organs function properly. They vary, however, in what they produce and how they release it.

Where is it located?

It runs for 277 miles through northwestern Arizona , ranging from about 0.1 to 18 miles wide. In places the canyon is more than a mile deep.

What is a Canyon?Many people just assume a canyon is just some type of cliff. A canyon is really a narrow, deep valley cut by a river through rock. Canyons range in size from narrow slits to huge trenches. They have very steep sides and may be thousands of feet deep. Smaller valleys of similar appearance are called gorges.

Arizona is known as the Grand Canyon State because of the amazing landform found in the northern part of the state. The awesome size and beauty of the Grand Canyon makes it one of the most famous natural wonders in the world. Phoenix is Arizona's capital and largest city.
