• Develop and implement a strategic and intentional marketing & recruitment plan where we focus on building relationships with key stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and ask them what the educational needs are of their schools, businesses and communities.

• Strong, consistent, long-term leadership with shared vision for Graduate Studies
• Know & understand the history of Graduate Studies here at MSUM– Celebrating 62 years of Graduate Studies– Fourteen Graduate Directors and Deans– Numerous degrees, certificates and name changes
Strategic Anchors: How will we succeed?
• Show up! Represent MSUM Graduate Studies on campus, in the community, region, and nation.
• Attend the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) Meeting to stay abreast of national best practices, data and policies that advance MSUM’s graduate programs.

• Meet with Karla, Program Coordinators, Deans, Provost and President to gather information in developing the vision and strategic plan through a graduate program needs assessment.
• Work with Grad Council in the development of a five-year vision and strategic plan aligned with Fulfilling Our Promise.
• Facilitate input from graduate students in enhancing the Graduate Student Organization and representation on Student Senate.

• Strategic Enrollment Management Committee Work Group– Develop unique recruitment strategies for each
graduate program.– Analyze needs for support to ensure future growth
and maintain quality graduate programs.– Identify new graduate program possibilities.

• Strategic Enrollment Management Committee Work Group– Develop models for graduate tuition waiver
options and additional graduate assistantships.– Implement follow-through for graduate students
needs assessment survey.– Enhance community partnerships to attract and
increase enrollment of graduate students.
Graduate Studies Opportunities• What do we know?– MSUM graduate student population has been stronger
than the other MNSCU universities.– Our MSUM graduate students have been taking
increasingly heavy credit loads.– As of April 20, 2015, 36.1% of current graduate
students eligible to register for Fall 2015 have done so. Last year at this time, 36.3% had done so.
• Graduate enrollment for Fall 2015 is up 12.0% from Fall 2014.
