A little boy was in a relative's wedding.
As he was coming down the aisle, he would take two steps,
stop and turn to the crowd.
While facing the crowd, he would put his hands up like claws and roar. So it went, step, step, ROAR, step, step, ROAR, all the way down the aisle.
As you can imagine, the crowd was near tears from laughing so hard
by the time he reached the pulpit.
When asked what he was doing, the child sniffed and said,
"I was being the Ring Bear.”

An indigent bum was walking and tripped. He struck his head and became unconscious. He spent three days in a coma at a catholic hospital. When he woke up a nun asked him who would be paying for his treatment. He said I have no money or no friends. I only have a sister who is a spinster and she has no money. In fact she is a nun. The nun taking the information stated, " Sir nuns are not spinsters, they are married to god." Where upon the bum said, "Well then send the bill to my brother-in-law." A person went into the office kitchen one morning and found a new girl painting the walls. She was wearing a new fur coat and a nice denim jacket. Thinking this was a little strange, he asked her why she was wearing them rather than old clothes or an overall. She showed him the instructions on the tin, "For best results, put on two coats". † † † Pastor Ben’s Message † † † -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The word “exile” means to be taken away from one’s native land by some authority. Exile is a major theme in Scripture because God’s people were forced into exile
more than once by foreign powers that sought to suppress the Israelite people. In a sense, the Israelites were in exile in Egypt, held there in slavery away from their promised land. A few hundred years later, the people were again exiled, this time by the Assyrian kings, and they were taken away from Israel by the thousands to work in the cities of their conquerors. Finally, the people were exiled by the Babylonians – and this is the exile that is spoken about so often in the Old Testament in 2nd Kings, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah, and other books. When the Babylonians took over Jerusalem, they took most of the inhabitants – especially the royalty and any skilled craftsmen – away into the cities of Babylon to increase the grandeur of the capital of the empire. It was a devastating blow for the Israelites, and they wrote and sang passionately, praying for God’s hand to rescue them and bring them back home. In our weekly 5:00 Bible study on Sundays, we have begun reading in the 2nd section of the prophet Isaiah, who finally brings some promise of return from exile to God’s people. Chapters 40-55 are beautiful poetry which recounts God’s mighty deeds in the past, and promises the same might to be given to His people in distress, away from their true home. Many musical scores, literature, and themes have carried over from these chapters to our lives today, such as Handle’s Messiah, which uses several passages from these chapters in Isaiah. It turns out, “exile” and the “return from exile” are themes that we connect with very deeply in our lives of faith in God. If you think about it, we can think of an even earlier exile than Egypt – the one from the Garden of Eden in Genesis. Adam and Eve were created to live harmoniously with God in the garden, but when the first sin took place, they were driven out of their true home, away from God’s favor, and into a foreign and difficult world. It was not until God’s Messiah, His Son Jesus the Christ was sent into the world that God’s people experienced a sense of rescue by God’s hand – and the true presence of His Grace saving His people from exile. See, we connect with the theme of exile because we, ourselves, experience a life in exile too. We live our lives in a world set apart from what God truly wants for us. We are cast into sin and futility, but by God’s grace we are promised reconciliation and a path home by our Savior Jesus. We are in the midst of a return from exile each and every day, washed clean by Jesus and made Holy in God’s eyes. Each and every day we are given the chance to be closer with God, an opportunity to walk more closely with Him, and His promises for us remain steadfast with the hope of our returning to our true home to see Him fully. “Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all people shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” – Isaiah 40:5 Peace – Pastor Ben

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: We are thankful for all who contribute to our outreach ministry. Check out the articles in the newsletter under Zion/Blind Center monthly meal; Ruth’s House; and other programs. The Zion/Blind Center monthly meal is always looking for those who would like to plan a meal. There is a sign up for the planning of a monthly meal. If you would like to plan a meal let me know and I will help get a signup sheet for the meal. Be sure and look for a sign up for the June 17th meal. Please have the food at the church by 8:30 Wednesday morning on June 17. Please always keep filling the boxes that are in the Fellowship hall for Zion, Eagles Wings, Ruth’s House and bosom buddies. There is a sign up for the second round for Red Cross training to be volunteers for our Red Cross disaster shelter. Ron Hermany is overseeing this outreach and he will keep us informed on the schedule date. Further information will be forthcoming, so please watch for this information. Also the needlers do the prayer shawls and hats, scarves for Zion shelter Thanks, Jean Richardson I took a stab at it and I made a heart shape pad, seven inches across. It doesn’t need to be heart shape, it could be round, square, rectangle or oval. It doesn’t need to be seven inches; but I don’t think you would want it to be less than five inches and not more than nine inches. Everyone is different so having various sizes would be good. Just sew two sides together, turn and stuff with batting scrapes or if you have pillow stuffing, I am sure it would work. Be sure and keep the pads soft. If you have any questions, let me know. Also the needlers do the prayer shawls and hats, scarves for Zion shelter. Thanks, Jean Richardson
