Grace Baptist Church of Blue Bell
Dear Friends,
It’s hard to believe that summer will soon be over and the fall season
will be upon us. I noticed at the mall the other day that the Halloween store is
already getting ready to open. Christmas won’t be far behind! But, ready or
not, here at Grace things will be getting back to “normal” in just a few weeks.
Actually, it is my hope and prayer that things will be anything but nor-
mal here at Grace this fall. While our regular Sunday School and worship
times will resume on September 9, we will also be gearing up for a new and
exciting program of outreach and new member development called Catch.
This new program has the potential to change the way we think about outreach
and create a new culture in our church to reach people more intentionally and
effectively for Jesus Christ.
Catch will be introduced to our congregation on four consecutive Sun-
days beginning on September 30. I will be preaching on topics ranging from,
“Becoming Relentlessly Outward-Focused” to “Making Visitors Feel Wel-
come.” At the same time, you will be encouraged to participate in a four-week
small group experience so that you can become even more familiar with the
details of the program. Ultimately, our goal is for you to understand your part
in helping our church grow and have an even greater impact on our commu-
nity.
In early September sign-up sheets will be available in the narthex so
that you can commit yourself to a group that best fits your schedule and is
maybe located near where you live. At the current time, we are planning on
having at least eight small groups with two groups meeting on Sunday morning
here at the church. Of course, the more people who participate the greater the
impact this program will have on our church and on the community we serve.
So your participation will be paramount. I hope that you will do your best to
join a group and worship with us each Sunday.
Centered in Christ,
Pastor George

Corrected Thank You: Dear friends, thanks so much for
sponsoring me and for your thoughts and prayers as I rode in
my 10th American Cancer Society Bike-a-thon on Sunday,
July 8, 2012. I rode the entire 65.4 miles and it was as much
fun this year as the first year I did it. Because of the generos-
ity of the 126 people who sponsored me, I am proud to do-
nate $5,815 to the American Cancer Society this year. Hope-
fully this money will be used so that one day we will live in a
world that is cancer-free. Thanks for believing in my cause
and purpose for riding my bike.—Diane Schwartz, Rider #13

Some Children’s Humor
One Sunday in a Midwest city a young child was “acting up” during the morning worship hour. The parents did their
best to maintain some sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle. Finally the father picked the little fellow
up and walked sternly up the aisle on his way out. Just before reaching the safety of the foyer the little one called
loudly to the congregation, “Pray for me! Pray for me!
During the minister’s prayer one Sunday, there was a loud whistle from one of the back pews. Gary’s mother was
horrified. She pinched him into silence, and after church asked, “Gary, whatever made you do such a thing?” Gary
answered soberly, “I asked God to teach me to whistle and He just then did!”
A little boy’s prayer: “Dear God, please take care of my daddy and my mommy and my sister and my brother and my
doggy and me. Oh, please take care of yourself, God. If anything happens to you, we’re gonna be in a big mess.”
A five-year-old said grace at family dinner one night. “Dear God, thank you for these pancakes…” When he con-
cluded, his parents asked him why he thanked God for pancakes when they were having chicken. He smiled and said,
“I thought I’d see if He was paying attention tonight.”
