This is the introduction and linguistic study from the 1st edition of Professor George Howard's book on Shem Tov's Hebrew Matthew. This material is now unfortunately out-of-print and difficult to obtain outside of university libraries. The Hebrew text and English translation have been updated and revised in the 2nd edition (1995) and therefore have not been included here. The 2nd (1995) edition available from Amazon under the title "The Hebrew Gospel of Matthew" by George Howard comes with a different linguistic study and is missing much of the valuable information found only in the 1st edition.
